*****Official Cubs 2019 thread*****

Have the cubs announced the roster move for Nico? I would guess Javy to 60 day Dl or DFA Rosario

Edit: Rosario DFAd

I know MLB teams are well run, but I keep thinking about Hoerner's call up. The Cubs left from Milwaukee to San Diego. Did they already have a Hoerner jersey packed away? Do they travel with blank shirts, and count on the host team to provide the facilities to personalize it, or have a company on retainer? Hoerner has not been with the Cubs, but maybe he had a ST jersey with him.
I just find it fun to think about.

Hoerner is having himself a Starlin Castro type debut. All he needs now is a 2 run homer and he will have 6 RBIs.

On the other side, 10 runs tonight already, just like Milwaukee. I fear what we might get the rest of this series.

Was he with the big league club in spring training?

I feel like the Cubs have to have a higher than normal ratio of prospects having big debuts, Castro, Soler homered in his, Baez homered in his, Contreras did too in his first at bat. Bryant didn't do much, don't remember Schwarber or Happ's.

Schwarber struck out in his first mlb at bat as a ph.

The next day was his first start and he went 4-5 with 2 RBIs.

Just had a chance to look him up. Looks like he got 20 PA's this spring as a "fill-in" from minor league camp.

Teams do this all the time nowadays. Innings fillers mostly, plus getting an up close look at prospects not invited to major league camp.

Goddamn pitchers choked again.

Quintana, Kintzler, Cishek, all of them are mentally weak.
Another crap performance from the pen, although Chatwood gave them 3 really good innings. How can a major league pitcher walk 3 people in a row?? My son’s on a 10u major team and Ive never seen that. Pathetic.

The best was when Joe was coming out to shift the infield around and Cishek kept saying, No Joe, No Joe, as he thought he was being pulled...then he throws four straight balls to lose the game.

Typical KB. Total lack of effort and production in a clutch situation. Down three runs and he can only hit a 2 run homer.

This game showed that KB cannot play hurt but when he’s feeling good (after a cortisone shot) he’s still one of the best in the league.

Another day, another bullpen arm, another bullpen failure.

BAU

With Yelich going down, this could get really interesting down the stretch. I think the Cards have pretty much sewed up the NLC. Both WC slots may still be up for grabs though, as both the Nats and the rest of the crowd seem to be on the downswing. Who will hit the bottom first?

In reality... the NL is just as top heavy as the AL. The division leaders won't be threatened by the WC teams.

Unless the Dodgers collapse, the field for this year's WS is already determined from the NL. However, upsets do occur. The 1973 NLCS comes to my mind.
