Matt Shaw in his first three at bats last night went homer, homer, and a double. It is not inconceivable that the Cubs challenge him with a promotion to AA to finish out the season.
So @lucas80 is Aldo Soto. Who'd a thunk it.
The call made no sense to me. It was a tie at worst. Nothing to overturn the call.
There are no ties. You are either out or safe. The call made no sense to me. It was a tie at worst. Nothing to overturn the call.
Sure, but they called him safe on the field, then went to video where maybe it showed a dead tie (but I still think he was safe) and they overturned the call. It was crap. Pretty big spot, too. 9th inning, Cubs down 2-1 after Happ led off with a HR, then Cody would have been on first with nobody out. It happens, but that was a terrible overturn. There are no ties. You are either out or safe.

Link to that rule?If it was an actual tie...he would be out.

Yeah, disappointing. I'm sure Ross would have liked for him to eat up 4 innings with a 6-run lead. Couldn't make it through 2...Wesneski crap the bed tonight.
Seems like PGH had quite a few hits that were of the "accidental" nature, whereas they weren't teeing off on Wesneski. Opposite field, check swing, etc... Of course they all count the same.Wesneski crap the bed tonight.
If my dad hadn’t bucked with tradition my middle name would have been something close to Aldo.So @lucas80 is Aldo Soto. Who'd a thunk it.
I posted previously that Shaw may be MLB ready next year if he comes up as a 3B, at least thats what the talking heads thought/speculated. I guess we'll see....next year.
I kind of liked this line from the linked story...One thing the Cubs have done is dig for talent. They don’t always get them, but they are active and competitive.
BN story about the Cubs already pursuing Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who will be available this offseason.
Chicago Cubs Reportedly Among Teams Scouting Japanese Ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto - Bleacher Nation
Yamamoto is one of the best players in Japan and is expected to be posted to MLB this offseason. The Cubs could be involved.www.bleachernation.com
Being promoted to Tenn would also likely give him some postseason action, which the SB Cubs have no shot at.My thought is that he’s mashing high A. Let him face elite velocity pitchers with better control at AA for 2 weeks. He’s hitting the best low A has to offer, but the talent goes up considerably at AA.
Ok, I'll say it - He's probably going to be the greatest professional athlete named Jordan in Chicago history.
I’m a little concerned that he’s been fighting the forearm for a couple weeks at this point. I’m glad he’s been able to remain effective, but forearm injuries are always worrisome.Fulmer, Leiter, and Merryweather were on track for 80 appearances this season. 50+ for Alzolay.
Well, Fulmer is on the IL now.
Hopefully this is basically a move for some extended rest. We'll know when we hear about any kind of rehab move to AZ.

UCL surgery is often preceded by “forearm soreness”.I’m a little concerned that he’s been fighting the forearm for a couple weeks at this point. I’m glad he’s been able to remain effective, but forearm injuries are always worrisome.

Tough break for Fulmer, but not a disaster as far as the team is concerned. He gone after this season regardless, which was up and down to say the least. Just that much more important for Boxberger to come back his '22 self and for Cuas and Palencia to step it up down the stretch.UCL surgery is often preceded by “forearm soreness”.
she’s so badWhy can I not escape Beth Mowins?
Jordan Wicks is being interviewed during the game today and he sounds like he's been in the league for 10 years already.
