*****Official IOWA at Maryland Game Thread*****

Why can't the Iowa crowd ever be as loud as they are at Maryland or Ames?
Prolly has something to do with the arena design and acoustics.
Iowa had a turd of a game. MG is anything but clutch with these ill advised drives and poor FT shooting. We need guys to step up and play at their potential for a deep run in Big 10 tourney and NCAA

At least it wasn't a blow out. Road loss to the No. 8 team that's close shouldn't hurt our ranking too much.

The positive news is this shouldn't drop us more than 5 spots in the polls and we are through the toughest part of our schedule with a pretty easy stretch approaching.

Except they didn't-- it was one of there better games this month (outside of Ohio State and Rutgers).
Yeah, give Maryland credit, they played very well. Best team we've played.

I think these two teams will meet again in the championship.

MG trying to do it all by himself at the end of a game and turns it over. Take him out with under 2 to play in close games from here on out.
In Mike's defense, no one else was doing jack shit. Someone had to do something. Woody was trying, but Maryland's goal was to foul him out (and it worked perfectly).

Good thing Maryland sucked shooting the second half. Should have lost by 20. Our perimeter defense was bad tonight.

But we didn't and basketball is a game of runs. Maryland was on fire in the first half so the law of averages took effect.

You could just as easily argue Iowa could have easily won if we don't shoot poorly from the perimeter and miss free throws all night.

Maryland played like crap and we still lost. Unbelievable
Maryland played decent defense but Iowa didn't adjust and make some extra passes or work for a better shot. Uhl was awful in the 2nd half and Uthoff just couldn't get in a flow. Woodbury unfortunately couldn't avoid the refs making calls on him because reasons....and we went back to missing the open jumps shots we did get, including Baer who unfortunately had his "play like a freshman" game tonight.

The team needs to regroup and use this game to work on and understand what needs to be done when shots aren't falling and our best players aren't going for 20+ pts.

We aren't hurt by this loss but we can't allow this to be a regressing point. We still need to keep pushing to play at a higher level every night to avoid any let downs or playing down to competition when we start meeting these middle of the pack teams in the Big Ten, especially on the road.
