*****Official Iowa at Penn State game thread*****

I think it's safe to say Keegan and Kris will be back next year. If PSU can take him out of the game, he is not ready for NBA. Granted, he is playing on a team that would not win the Summit League, so there's that.

Their father @PHawkKenyon will beg to differ with you and I really can't blame him. Would you want your kids to play with this shit show coaching staff Iowa has any longer. Getting out of Iowa would be my highest priority, there's absolutely no reason to give Fran any opportunity to have any chance to win a Big Championship....he doesn't deserve it ever.....

I'd hope so Keegan isn't remotely ready for the mental grind.
That’s a reach, what makes you think he’s not ready for the “mental grind?” He’s likely been playing basketball since he was a toddler, in the running for the Naismith, projected first rounder in the NBA. Had an awful night and still made the tip in play to force OT, also drilled a 3 in the final seconds…bottom line, unless he falls dramatically on the projected NBA draft board, I don’t think he’s going to be any more mentally prepared waiting another year.

Thanks Uncle Murray

We were and are below .500 in league play.

Hang an above .500 against directional cupcake banner if it makes you feel better about yourself.
Okay, so your position is wins don't count if they're not good enough in your eyes. Okay, got it.

Look, I know we're bad. I'm on your side. But to maintain we don't have a winning record, despite how bad the wins are, is laughably idiotic.

You seem to have a hard time conceptualizing conference wins vs non-conference wins. It's not uncommon to consider both. Read any basketball story -- the author will list overall and conference record.

...and trust me, the selection committee will not be giving a lot of credence to our non-con record. And rightly so.

Yep. No way this team is making the dance..
I’ve said it more than once, this is a mediocre team at best with a below average coach and a mid major roster outside of the Murray’s. Until the roster drastically improves and we get some actual PG play you can forget about being a legitimate contender for anything meaningful.
You are witnessing Iowa basketball under FM. I don’t see it getting better anytime soon .

You seem to be having a hard time conceptualizing that I was never talking about conference records. But you knew that.

I said Penn State was below .500. You said Iowa was too. I linked our season results, which proved my point. Yet, you hung on to the conference record thing for some reason, then doubled and tripled down talking about +250 teams and directional schools. I asked if your position was that wins don't officially count if they're bad wins. You told me I could hang an above .500 directional banner to feel good about myself, once again acknowledging that you knew what I was talking about, but for some reason can't admit it. Get some sleep. Or some help.

We're talking about two different things. Iowa is below .500 in conference. They were below .500 in conference before they traveled to Penn State. Those are just facts.

Iowa is above .500 overall. They were above .500 overall before they traveled to Penn State. Those are just facts.

You weren't talking about conference record? Ok. So what? I was. No one is required to consider the overall record just because you do.

Hahaha

I and others here have tried to explain to you why the overall record is not a good measure of how good this team is, and why the conference record is a better indicator. You seem oblivious.

Remain so. No skin off my nibblets...

I bet you're one of those "20 win season" guys, aren't you? It's ok. Fran and Barta are too.

haha

Good points. You are right, Fran has assembled an absolutely brutal roster. Keegan, Kris, Sandfort and Pmac are a solid 4. Beyond these guys you are looking at low mid-major talent. Iowa's guard play is easily the worst at the P5 level and there isn't any debate. This team is bad, but had Fran gotten a portal guy similar to one of the 3 guys PSU had that could at least throw a ball in the ocean occasionally, it wouldn't be the absolute dumpster fire that it is.

I’m not. I hate Fran and want him gone. I conference record has nothing to do with the point of my original comment. You screwed up, doubled down (a couple times) and couldn’t admit it…plain and simple. You’re certifiable. Or, you can’t read for sh!t. Probably both.

"Screwed up"

?

Do you honestly think that I thought Iowa had an overall losing record?

lol

You're a simpleton.

I don’t know what goes on inside your head. Honestly, I don’t want to know. You for some reason brought in conference records, knew that wasn’t what I was talking about, defended your stance (while admitting you knew what I was talking about) and then call me the simpleton. You are either a complete loon or a complete a-hole. Which is it? Have a great day, friend.

The problem is,his “awful nights” Are piling up, especially against teams with a pulse.

Fair assessment, but it’s also a little skewed when there are multiple stretches in games where no one else on the team can hit the broad side of a barn or even want to take a shot which allows defenses to sell out on stopping Keegan. IMO the athletic ability and the physical traits he possesses outweigh his poor stat lines. Ultimately, for being a poor night, he still ended with 21 pts and played the 4th most minutes.

Have a great day. Don't eat the yellow snow.

We lost 2 games now we had a good chance to win on the road. Penn State and Rutgers. I know any win on the road is an accomplishment but letting those 2 escape hurts. By the same token though, Northwestern has lost more close games otherwise they would be knocking on the door near the top of the conference. Winning those close ones are what separates the good teams from the also rans. If the Hawkeyes don’t figure out how to win those we are going to become an also ran and that’s sad coz I think we have much more talent than we’re showing. Experience is great but when it’s next t producing its time to change things up. Fran it’s time starting Thursday in a game we’re not expected to win. Go steal one in Columbus !
Play the most talented players and tell them to lay it all out there. Connor likely not able to go and it’s time Jordan comes off the bench. Shorten up Filip Rebraca and play Peyton, Perkins, JoeT ( a lot) and the young Bigs. Keegan, Kris, PMac play a lot. Win or lose play your best players
