The receiver still had a shot to catch the ball , what b.s.

This. No wonder there are high scoring games. Defense has to play with an arm behind their back. WR needs to recognize zone coverage and not run THROUGH the middle. Otherwise you get LIT up... But get a 1st down and disqualified LB. Lost two LBs for next week

Pretty sure, clearly you don’t have a clue. You play to win the game not let the other team just move down the field, Wisconsin and Penn State come to mind. Pathetic.

We were up by 3 scores. Any good coach will gladly trade 7 points for 5 minutes in that situation.

The games you cited aren't at all similar.

Can anyone recall the last targeting call on Iowa?

I can remember a few for Iowa. OSU last year. IU in 2015.

If he doesn't lower his head he doesn't get targeting. Putting his head down at the last second makes it a good call.
Except he didn't initiate contact with his helmet. Explain how you can run forward with your head trailing your body.

What a joke. Defenseless player? Sure. Targeting? Hell no.

Also, Goofers just got STONED
They could call a late hit or unnecessary roughness, but that hit does not fit the definition of targeting.

They just couldn't change the call to fit the play. Goofy ref guidelines....

NFL is trying to figure that out right now. And how to tackle QBs without getting their jersey dirty. I SEE a grass stain! PENALTY on the D!!!

I don’t think it was targeting by the book for reasons stated above, but Amani shouldn’t have made it that close. Just wrap up and don’t even give the appearance of targeting.

That penalty leaves us with a 3rd-string MLB for the first half against IU, who can really score. Our chances next week just took a hit as a result of that call.

Jones should know better than to even make it close. His football IQ leaves a lot to be desired.

In putting your head down makes a tackle malicious then 90% of collisions today were malicious

That was an ignorant comment by Doobi. Jones’ head doesn’t make contact with the WR, so what difference does it make if it were up, down, or upside down?
