OU Fans Want Out of the Big XII

It's my impression of reality of OU not being happy in the Big12.
You think OU is going to leave the Big 12 because some internet posters bitched about a decision on eligibility that has since been reversed? Good thing for the Big Ten's rep that nobody was reading this board when the hardship year request for Ott was being discussed.

Seriously, what you are doing is making a huge leap from being unhappy about some aspects of the situation to bailing out. It's especially huge considering the options OU has.

I won't base my decision on them staying because some chronic internet poster fan of a team that is a welfare recipient of the OU says they will.

You should base it on facts and logic.....but that probably wouldn't come out the way you want, so what the hell, right?

I agree on using facts but have you read the stupid crap posted by ISU fans on this board that use very little facts or logic? Or they just throw up information to see if it sticks? My good lord pot meet kettle.

I think the link I posted was full of facts and logic

Bowlsby's comment about a full round robin plus title game making a better champion is illogical, for one.

Overall, the B12 is neither as strong as Cy wants to believe, nor on the verge of extinction. Its main weakness, besides being beholden to Texas, is being reactionary, where the Big Ten has been visionary. But it's still a darn good league.

The B12 added a title game because they had to do something to increase revenues. Bowlsby is just adding spin to the decision.

I still think the status quo reigns. Until Texas or Oklahoma leaves, it all holds together. Texas seems to have no interest in leaving. So, it all depends on OU. B1G invitation doesn't appear to be coming. SEC invitation appears unlikely.

"Maybe there should be more Big 12 panic, especially with teams not named Texas or OU."
LOL good article

Really what choice does the other 8 schools have here, I am sure they have been talking to one another, setting up primary plans if the conference explodes but really what else can they do. Purdue, Iowa, NW, and most of the big 10 would be in the same situation if OSU and Mich. were about to rip the big 10 apart. They are just along for the ride, or leave if they can catch on like Mizzu and Nebraska did.

ISU fans are not posting any more stupid crap that what Iowa fans are. Remember, ISU to the MAC. Both sides want different things for their own selfish reasons, ISU fans want and hope for the Big 12 to stay together, because its best for ISU, Iowa fans want to see it destroyed, thinking that will be best for Iowa. The truth is somewhere in the middle.

You may be the biggest offender dude. Count anyone at the mall today? Talk about posting stupid crap.

It is a very good article, especially considering the rest of that quote was "But Bowlsby's combination of candor and calm gives the league the captain it needs when the surf gets choppy again."

So all the Iowa fans posting about seeing an increase in ISU shirts are wrong, them complaining about the Register having more stories about ISU are incorrect. That Iowa fans bitching about little news about Iowa and seeing more stories about ISU is just not happening. That Iowa is wasting time and energy having a football scrimmage in W. Des Moines is a unneeded waste. Good to know, Iowa fans can rest comfortably now,

I am just wondering why the article was even posted here. It is mostly reasons why OU and Texas aren't worried. Of course they aren't worried, they can find a worthy home if they want. It is them that will create the panicking. Pointless article if you ask me.
As far as ISU goes, I think that as long as they maintain a good basketball program they will have a somewhat sturdy branch to hold on to. If the B12 does dissolve, which I am not saying will happen, Campbell and Prohm's success will be very important in the upcoming years.

I missed all those positive stories in the Register from the past......

Anyway, glad you continue to find ways to feed your insecurity and the need to announce " we are here!" By the way from what I have gathered most of the people wearing ISU shirts are on the ISU board and they are having a group counseling session at 3:00. Keep up the great job with your awesome research

I'm not here to say that the Big12 is doomed. I think it is a wait and see situation. But if Texas and OU do leave, I'm not sure how calm the captain is will have much impact on the ship sinking after slamming into an iceberg.

Thanks, always nice to feel welcomed by a fellow Iowan, lived here 54 years myself, how about you? I do not attend any group counseling session myself, but I will file that away for the future if I ever need one, thanks again. As for the insecurity and We are here, I see a hell of a lot more from Iowa fans, the feeling we are relevant and the need to put down any and all that think otherwise. Most ISU fans just dislike Iowa fans for that reason. Its we are the big brother, and you as an ISU fan are some how beneath us. All crap, but keep believing it if that is what keeps you happy. Good day.

If Texas and OU leave the Big 12 is screwed, I just don't think that is going to happen. The reason I posted the article is because is showing that Texas and OU are relatively happy

You see a lot more from Iowa fans? Let me explain something....you are on an Iowa board so if you post stupid crap you will get knocked around. Live with it or start posting better content. It really is pretty simple.
Oh, I have been here longer than you sparky.

Congrads on being older than me, getting old kind of sucks in a way. Posting better crap, you mean, toe the line that Iowa is something special, unlike any other team in the nation. And yes, Iowa has a bigger fan base than Texas, stuff like that. Got you, will try to watch my P's and Q's around here. Do not want to rock the boat, some people just want to live in the fog of ignorance.

Point out where I said Iowa had a bigger fan base than Texas. Where did I say you HAD to toe the line. You can post anything you want but why you would expect a group hug is beyond me. I am not living in a fig of ignorance but in 5 minutes I will be in the pool. Awesome day here in Des Moines.

Others on this board have, and posted a link to back it up. You said I was posting crap, one mans opinion, do not want or expect a group hug or anything like it. Yes, its a great day down here in Southern Iowa too, just finished mowing my yard and spraying for weeds. Enjoy your swim.

I did not say everything but the license plate and shirt counting......well I think you get it

I agree totally. However If Iowa called up the BIG 12 TODAY and asked to join the BIG 12 conference they would accept the invite today. The same isn't true for Iowa State. You know the reason why.

Packer you say you live in Des Moines, tell me you have not seen an increase presence of ISU in the DM metro the last 5 to 10 years over what it was before? As to my license plates and t shirts, its just an observation, nothing more, but internet polls done by counting the number of tweets, myspace and facebook references somehow count more? A few years ago, Cy, the mascot of ISU won a contest as the most recognized mascot in America, now that is complete crap. If you showed most Americans a photo of Cy, and said name the school, at best maybe 5 or 10 percent would get it right. But he won the award. My point is, you have to look at how the information was collected, and visual evidence of a fact can and is just as important.

Because the Big Ten is scared of adding another powerhouse basketball program?

Because Iowa is more relevant? Guess what if Clemson and Florida St, called and said they wanted to be in, they would be taken also. I suppose I could make the argument that Iowa brings nothing more to the Big 12 than ISU tv wise, but that idea would be shot down here, so why bother. If you think ISU is going to end up in the MAC or AAC or someplace else, knock yourself out and believe it. The news the past few days suggests the Big 12 is going to be around a few more years, which is good for Iowa State. Packer this is the smug attitude I was talking about, right here for you. I hear a lot of this from Iowa fans, that Idea they are just some how better at everything, than ISU.

I have seen what seems like an increase of both Iowa and ISU fans which makes sense since the metro areas keep growing significantly while 2/3rds of the other counties are decreasing. Dallas county is growing the fastest while Johnson county is second fastest. More than half of the states population lives in 10 counties. So while I notice more of it on both sides I do not feel like there is some sort of percentage shift one way or another. I just don't see it.

Fact is the BIG, SEC, or both could torpedo the crap out of the sinking ship that is the Big 12 tomorrow if they wanted to. Make no doubt, that ship is sinking. It seems all quite now and everybody is happy, of course that's usually when all heck breaks loose. The adults in that conference are putting on the happy family face because they don't want to startle the children and get them worked up about the impending divorce.

All the BIG would have to do is float a rumor of an offer (not even a legit offer) to one of UT, OU, or KU and you would see the other rats of the Big 12 scurrying around hoping somebody throws them a life preserver. This guy writing how the Big 12 could damage the BIG's in their rights negotiations, riiiight, the BIG could sink your whole conference in one day if it wanted to. Just whisper Sooners, Jayhawks, come hither....

^This. If the B1G and SEC really wanted to take over College Football, all they would have to do is decide which one takes Texas and which one takes OU. They could announce the additions in a joint press conference with a Big12 tombstone as a backdrop. To make things really interesting The B1G could also announce the addition of Virginia and SEC could announce the addition of Va Tech at the same time. 2 of the 4-16 team super conferences would be set.

KF's losing record against ISU?
