Pat Lugo?

There's a video that Flo posted on Instagram of Gilman's winning takedown. In the front row of the stands, Lugo, Marinelli and M* are all sitting together and cheering Gilman. Sure looks like he's leaning Iowa...
Linky? Not disputing, just can't seem to find it myself.

Any coach that thinks it's a good idea to deny a kid a transfer is misguided. Why force a kid to stay if he doesn't want to be there? Not only is it unfair to the student athlete but it's a bad look.

If you want to place restrictions so they don't go to another conference team then fine but come on.

That has to bring back memories of the petty behavior of VT when Tom's crew was trying to transfer to Iowa.

It never pays to be vindictive and childish.

Vak. How about this. I will put my money where my mouth is. How about a $100 donation to the HWC. If he ends up a Hawk you donate $100 to the HWC. I will even give you 2 to 1 odds. If he goes elsewhere I will donate $200 to the HWC.

While I would normally love to take you up on this wager, because it's a good outcome regardless, I don't have that kind of spare scratch right now given some life situations going on. My hope is to be in a more financially stable situation soon enough.

As a reminder, a release only allows him to compete next season. And since he has a redshirt year to burn, if he doesn't get his release he redshirts next season and has 2 years remaining.
Then if the hold up is trying to get the release that might mean Lugo wants to go next year at 41!?!

I'd be skeptical that's the case, he's wrestled 149 the last 2 years while Edinboro's 41 was basically .500. My guess is its related to scholarship as I'm pretty sure if you aren't given a release you're not eligible to compete or receive any scholarship dollars. A quick look at the difference between Edinboro and Iowa student costs puts the difference at around $15k.

Not to mention Flynn was considering the Pitt job... If he is really the reason Lugo's release is being held up, regardless of where he's wanting to go, Flynn needs to be called out.

From our vantage point, left to right: Guy in blue shirt = Lugos dad - Then Lugo - Then Marinelli - Then Morningstar - then another family member of Lugo (Not sure which, but was in the corner coaching with Lugos dad for all of Pats matches).

I'm guessing its a ploy by the entire Lugo family to get our hopes up and then crush us like aluminum cans when Karl gets the commit as a walk on.

Christian Pyles tweeted out he seriously doubts Lugo goes to Iowa for whatever that's worth.
It just seems (in my mind) that kids should be falling all over themselves to wrestle at Iowa. Other schools get all kinds of transfers, why not us? He'd be a perfect replacement for Sorensen. What is the issue?

I'll take your bet Gobblin. Not that I doubt you. I just want to guarantee the HWC an additional $100. Or $300. :)

Also, I am a slight bit worried. The more public Lugo's interest in Iowa is the more likely another school tries to blow it up.

Looks like CP, and vicariously myself, are wrong about the situation. Even though I didn't take the bet, I will make the donation to HWC by the end of the year if Lugo does make the transfer in. Again, I would pay it immediately, but I just don't have the scratch right now.
