Maybe not a great strategy to wait until the end to win a match. No longer a trend, it’s just Iowa wrestling now. An embarrassing record in close matches.

Who had this strategy tonight? Brands? Anyone else? No. No one else.

Sounds like I picked the right dual to skip for family time. This sounds awful

It’s awful for the hammerhead rubes who don’t know or understand any better. I will give you that.

and the saddest part is that's the mentality of the wrestlers on the mat, not the coaches. You can hear Terry and Telford telling them to push the pace, but everyone seems content to settle things on a match deciding TD.

Abe wrestled a good match, but even his win is indicative to our mindset. He's up big with a minute to go and is content to ride out despite Telford yelling to cut Waddell

One starter lost. And it was to Rocky Jordan. Backups have lost close matches. And this is reason for people to lose their minds.
I don’t think anyone is losing their mind but you can not tell me the 125, 133, and 149 was good wrestling. I mean there was 1 takedown in 24 mins and 50 seconds of wrestling. That’s not good wrestling. Cullan tried his damndest, he might have been 0-8 on shot attempts.

"RT is not a factor. If you're Boyd you have to be thinking about a TD here"

It's not the losses, it's the way we've wrestled. You can't argue that outside of Woods, PK and Abe we haven't looked good at all so far.

If Charles Matthews and Joel Jesuroga “not looking good” is that bothersome to people so be it I guess.

Iowa leads 21-12
Papa Cass wrestling against Andrew
I just heard Rick Flair "whoo"
Andrew is shoving Cass and boxing his head
Maybe poking the bear?
Tony goes uppe body and spins around for a TD

I wouldn’t be too quick to despair about this meet.

125: Back-up. Got him a match. Great kid and teammate but we aren’t counting on him for anything in competition.

133: Teske is the guy here. Disappointing effort but we’ll get more production from Brody.

141: Utter domination as expected.

149: Another back-up. Max probably gets bonus here.

157: Solid win by Cobe.

165: See 141.

174: This was the bummer of the evening. That’s the kind of match you have to win to get on the podium. Not a good sign at all. No offense.

184: Workmanlike major over a kinda ranked guy (#31).

197: Nice major for Jacob.

285: Tony takes care of business with the fall.

So yeah, 174 was a bummer and not a good sign. Otherwise our starters pretty much destroyed their opponents and we gave some back-ups a match. Nothing to see here.

My wrestling buddy was at the ISU match and the Whoo started and he asked "is Tony a turkey hunter?"

No, Rick Flair.

Yeah it’s too bad. But it’s Joel Jesuroga who’s redshirting and will never be expected to first string. And he took a ranked guy to OT. Damn near had him. So who cares?

Agree for most. However cobe needs to do more against a mid level kid
