Schedule Breakdown

I feel like we were a few plays away from slightly over achieving. We ended up about where many thought we would land at 7-5. The schedule proved to be even more diffucult than expected.

Iowa Overall RPI SOS: #8

Versus "Elite" Teams: 1-2 (obviously quite close to 2-1, Wisconsin and OSU games were an amazing contrast)
Versus "Very Good" Teams: 2-2 (Lucky to escape Ames with W, NW game seems like we pissed away)
Versus "Below Average" Teams: 3-1 (Hard to explain the Purdue game, they seemed to win the battle up front, which is especially frustrating).
Versus "Poor" teams: 1-0

RPI Rankings:
Wisky 4
tOSU 8
PSU 10

MSU 22
NW 25
UNT 39 (first place in their conference)
ISU 41

WY 58 (2nd Place in their conference)
PUR 79 (They did appear to be playing much better at end of season)
NEB 85
MN 92

IL 134

reasonable objective people (vegas) looked at the schedule before the season, looked at the known factors like returning starters, departed seniors, etc. They saw 6.5 wins.

I'm not here to tell anyone how they should feel, but by a logical non-biased view this team overachieved. That schedule was BRUTAL. And when we lost BOTH starting offensive tackles for most of the season, brought in a new QB with a new offensive coordinator, it could be viewed as one of the best coaching jobs of the KF ERA!!!

This season has moments that I will remember for a long time. The inches we were from knocking off Penn State, the empty hand at Michigan State, the onsides kick, fake field goal, fake punts, the 90+ yard drives vs Iowa State, the beating in Lincoln...Josh Jackson, Josey Jewell, Akrum Wadley... the emergence of Nick Easley, the excitement around freshman AJ Eppy,

How can Illinois’ RPI be 134 when there are only 130 FBS schools? They finished behind FCS schools?
