I am ready to admit I have been wrong about CMac. He is playing good basketball. Not fast or flashy but steady and tough. His shot has gotten better and he takes good care of the basketball.

Also, I think this team would be an NCAA tourney team with a healthy Bohannon. I believe he will shut it down after ISU though and he probably should. Even though, he did not score tonight, he had a very positive influence on the outcome with 10 assists and zero turnovers. Really too bad for him and the team but health has to come first.

Minnesota may not be a world beater but that was still an important win. Minny does have some good players.

Be nice to steal one in Hilton!

We will have to save some crow for those idiots who thought that Garza was only feasting on weak competition and couldn't keep up his numbers in Big 10 play

He needs to be less hesitant shooting.
Maybe not 3s, until he can get consistency; but the runners in the lane and fadeaways are sinking for him, and they are tough to defend. He hesitated on a few of those against MN, and he needs to put those up when he's open.

Played very well vs MN.

Looks like CMac will have a solid 4 year bb career as an important glue guy.
Just making a few shots makes a huge differance.
I expect the same from PatrickMac if he gets healthy. Now, still a bit shocked that a coaches son Div. 1 guard cannot finish at the rim with both hands.

He definitely has a role on this team. We miss a guy like Baer. Garza is tough on the block, but can’t be the only one rebounding on the block. Conner doesn’t always get the rebound, but he is the guy batting it out to the key or scrapping for a jump ball under the basket. The fact that his 3 point shot has improved is encouraging as well. I really like his passing ability on the elbow when we are playing against a zone defense.

I think playing the 3/4 has made him much more effective than being the 1/2.

He's a basketball player, knows what to do, has good size and isn't going to back down. Probably best served what he is doing now, just playing where he is needed. It has helped every guy on the team with Iowa primarily going with 1 big and 4 perimeter players. It spaces the floor well for Garza and on defense Iowa can do more switching when the perimeter players can pass guys off to one another.

To the old timers on this board, he reminds me a bit of Kevin Boyle.

Kevin was quicker and had more bounce for rebounding, but was a good utility player who was below average shooting.

And CM seems to be a bit "smarter" in positioning and improving shooter.

Not arguing, just agreeing they are similar. But obviously we're both old so our memories might be going :D

People are underestimating how much Connor is still handling the ball. He is not playing power forward, is just guarding the other teams power forward.

Boyle lost his shot in his latter career. It was odd. Can't say I remember another player ever experience such, certainly to that degree.

Remember "Boyle Country?" Might have been just a Gazette or a Ron Gonder thing. Anyway, Boyle was a lethal shooter midway along the baseline. Ended up bricking 'em from there too :(. IIRC, kinda ended up being a "defensive specialist" as he was a good athlete.

Correct; he was the defensive guy always assigned to the 'A' guy on the other team and shutting him down.
When you had Lester, you didn't need points from Boyle.

Went from being an 80% FT shooter Jr. season to to a 50% shooter as senior. I know there was some blame on a wrist injury to the fall off.
