Tied 1-1.
Storley hanging on the edge of the mat.
1:24 left in match.

Kokesh loses. #1 seed beaten by #8 seed.
Evans and Storley going to OT.

Storley shoots for double leg. OOB.
Storley is tough to score on. He has unbelievable hips and can roll w/anyone.
Evans stalks him.
These guys have wrestled each other many times.
Only once has it NOT gone to OT.
Evans snaps trying to get to the legs.
Ironside is stressed out.
More OT.

Am I wrong in saying watching Evans is like watching Tshirtsis?

Thanks a lot, redbird! Sitting here in the airport in the Caribbean. You're all I got, man! Well, you and Track, but Track doesn't cut it.

Storely did nothing. He has no room to complain. Had his feet on the OOB line for half the match. Nice job Evans. Just win baby. Kokesh going down is huge. Evans beats Brown and I think he is the champ!

Not pretty, but a win is a win. Right Jason Tsirtsis?
wink.r191677.gif

I am stunned that Evans beat Storley 3 in a row, I'm at a loss for words............... now he has to figure out how to get out from underneath Brown. Take his ass down would be a good way to avoid that, then take neutral and go get him again (wishful thinking probably, but still............).

Happy for Evans but that is about as boring as it gets. 2 big match-ups tonight between Iowa and Penn St:
1. Clark v Megs
2. Evans v Brown

Clark vs Gullibon

Smart wrestling by Evans. Storley is a scrambler. If you get overly aggressive you play right into his strength. 3-0 against him says all you have to know.

Yeah, J and Storley don't have much to complain about. It's not like either guy does much offensively when they meet. Way to get the W, Mike.

Now, Mike hits a road block. Time to pull a rabbit out of your hat, Mike Evans, and figure out a way to beat this dude! I don't care how ugly it is. Somehow, some way, just get us a W!

We like to talk about our guys not progressing but how about Storely? Has he gotten better in 4 years?

Sammy Brooks vs #1 seed Gabe Dean from Cornell up next.
We just saw a #1 seed go down. Let's do it again.
Dean beat Sammy 6-2 last time they met.
Brooks is having a good tournament.
BIG WIN for Evans just now. Guaranteed AA status, but he's thinking bigger than that.
Waiting for TV to return.
Dean in on a shot right off the whistle. Sammy fights it off.
Brooks needs to push the pace early.
Brooks coming heavy w/underhooks.
No score yet.
How big would this be asks Ironside. C'mon Sammy!
Brooks trying to find an underhook. Dean on the edge. Brooks tries to snap him down.
Brooks pushes Dean OOB.
Brooks more underhooks but no points.
Brooks tries a collar tie. Nothing.
Courts of Ohio State down 2-0 in first round.
End of first period no score.

Sammy starts down and gets hand control and escapes.
Ironside likes the pace.
Brooks throws an underhook but OOB.
1:20 left and Sammy leads 1-0.
Brooks gets in a double leg w/a drag but Dean is smart and gets away.
C'mon Sammy.
Dean fakes and tries to get some motion going. Dean is putting more together now, trying to get Sammy off balance. Dean keeps blocking Sammy out.
Snap by Brooks trying for underhook, but OOB.
Both have collar ties now. Brooks looking for underhook.
End of 2nd period.

Choke of the day award goes to Ian Miller of Kent State. Leading 8-4, been great on his feet the whole way, then he starts to run, and gets beat in the process. I will never understand that.
Can somebody explain the scoring to me in this match? Miller went up 8-4 with the TD. Then Realbuto escapes, 8-5, and gets a TD making it 8-7. Realbuto lets Miller up (should be 9-7 but still showed 8-7) and then attacks him and rives him to the edge of the mat and gets the TD to make it 9-9 (score showed Realbuto up 9-8 though). The RT point was locked for Miller so it should have been 10-9 Miller at the end of regulation. Why was the escape point not given to Miller before Realbuto last TD at the edge of the mat?
I pointed this out a long time ago.

Sammy starts 3rd period on top.
Dean trying to tripod.
Dean escapes.
Tied up.
1:30 left in the match.
RT not a factor.
Stall warning on Dean.
OSU wrestler still down in his match.
Dean gets in on a shot on Brooks and gets the TD.
Dean leads 3-1.
Now OSU wrestler takes the lead.
:20 left in our match.
Brooks snaps and tries to get to the leg.
Snap and after snap by Sammy.
Sammy loses 3-2 to Gabe Dean.
First loss of the day for Iowa.
OSU wrestler is tied up now and going OT.
