How many drops were there that killed drives? You can't blame the OC when the play is right, the pass is there, but the receiver can't hang on.
another thing that limited the play calling was the loss of Butler. with out Butler to line up at RB and let Wadley line up in the slot took a big part of the play calling off the table.
easy for a lazy boy coach to say, it is one thing to play vs NT but it is another to play vs the # 4 Team in the country, Butler is a proven player in both running and catching the ball, Butler has close to 4000 yards rushing compared to what 70+ for Martin and Young I don't think so, but then again I am not a expert coach that you seem to think you are.Hawks had zero interest in that. They could have easily put one of the freshman in the backfield and Wadley in the slot. The freshman proved themselves capable last week.
They are signed by Iowa's Coaching Staff to come in and play big boy football, the only way to get game experience is to play in games. They did that already, and performed admirably. There is no reason to believe either one of those guys shits their pants stepping on a football field no matter who the opponent is. CLEARLY what we WERE attempting to do wasn't working, so at that point, whats the big risk to insert them into the game plan? So they lose 3 yards a carry instead of Akrum? Big whoop.easy for a lazy boy coach to say, it is one thing to play vs NT but it is another to play vs the # 4 Team in the country, Butler is a proven player in both running and catching the ball, Butler has close to 4000 yards rushing compared to what 70+ for Martin and Young I don't think so, but then again I am not a expert coach that you seem to think you are.
It's probably been mentioned before but I haven't seen it. . . . That safety wasn't such a bad break, really. PSU was moving the ball and would have had excellent field position, probably around our 35 or 40, with a great chance to punch in a TD or kick a FG for 7 or 3, respectively. We were in as deep a hole as you can get. As it turned out, we got off a nice kickoff and flipped the field, in exchange for giving up 2. Could have been worse.take calculated risks to win. I calculated the risk and it wasn't good. The only benefit of the play was it got Penn St on their half of the field. May have saved 5 points.
Him trying to stay with the run while they stacked the box lost us this game. Should have opened it up earlier. Hopefully he learned his first lesson. We win the west if he figures this out. Go hawks!!!
This loss IS on the coaches and the play calling. Just not that particular play. I have no problem with that pitch to Wadley.
Maybe. Maybe not.MVB makes his first two catches and it's a different game
