This doesn't end well. You either support a broad set of offensive values or you have to draw a line somewhere. Facebook and twitter already tried being the open marketplace and quickly realized it was a disaster. It's like Elon is incapable of understanding basic history.
Or more likely what he means is, we're going to support ideas that I like in the moment and we'll ban the ones I don't like, and it's likely my mood will shift from day to day leaving zero inconsistency.

It also leads to people targeting and killing other people - particularly in other countries where those ostracized aren't protected by local/national laws.

Twitter has driven lots of web traffic, using the content links of news organizations, and competent bloggers, for many years now. And advertisers were happy to hop onboard.
Now, with requiring content providers to PAY for site access, there aren't going to be as many willing to throw free content out there. And advertisers see lots less bang for their buck - not even considering they don't want their products and ads associated with bigotry, Nazis, anti-Semitism, etc.
So, Musk's tactic of "letting all that hate-speech" on his platform is going to erode the advertising value for those two basic reasons. He either starts regulating conspiracy/hate speech and increases the value to those advertisers, or he doesn't, and they trickle away.

Elon fans could all submit “Parody account!” and it then becomes publicly attached to that tweet.
Turns out his unhappiness with his account reach was warranted. More bugs were identified and remedied.
Some of you overestimate yourselves & underestimate this guy. Not a good combination.

Fanout service for Following feed was getting overloaded when I tweeted, resulting in up to 95% of my tweets not getting delivered at all. Following is now pulling from search (aka Earlybird). When Fanout crashed, it would also destroy anyone else’s tweets in queue. 2. Recommendation algorithm was using absolute block count, rather than percentile block count, causing accounts with many followers to be dumped, even if blocks were only 0.1% of followers. Also, it’s trivial to bot spam accounts with blocks.

How do you conclude what you said from Elon stating Starlink is the backbone of communication of Ukraine? I don’t get it.
If he were pro-Russia as you allege, why would Starlink work in Ukraine at all?
When Musk appealed to the Dept of State to ship Starlink units into Iran so that protestors could communicate with the outside world, did you also allege he is Pro-Iranian regime?? 😂
