The fact that the tournament champion trumps the season champion for the automatic bid is just flat out wrong.
Reading their posts about how they got screwed on that shot clock violation at the end of the game validates your point. How could anyone argue that call?Agree x 100000
I’d cheer for UNI in the tourney but frankly they and their fans kinda annoy me otherwise.

Meh. That's the issue with "one-bid" leagues. The fact that the tournament champion trumps the season champion for the automatic bid is just flat out wrong.
No. It was a one bid league. Some bubble team just went pop with Bradley-UNI taking a bid.
The MVC is a one bid league regardless, so this doesn't affect any bubble teams. Some bubble team just went pop with Bradley-UNI taking a bid.
You don't think Loyola Chicago will get an at large? The MVC is a one bid league regardless, so this doesn't affect any bubble teams.
Your right, I didn't realize they are 125 in the NET.The MVC is a one bid league regardless, so this doesn't affect any bubble teams.
Zero point zero chance. NET in the 120’sYou don't think Loyola Chicago will get an at large?
No. They are ranked well over 100 in all the computer rankings. 125 in NET. 127 in Kenpom. You don't think Loyola Chicago will get an at large?

It's a case where they either need to find a way to value regular AND conf. tourney champs over at-large bids (especially when you have a historically weak bubble like this year).......or just get rid of ALL conference tournaments, period.
A case can be made that playing this conference tournament actually hurt Drake because they would otherwise be sitting at home right now, as opposed to playing in games that saw some of their best players go down with injury. (That would be the devil's advocate approach....)

Not really sure what they were referring to. He’s started every game, led the team in mins, and the led the conference in 3 pt %Anyone find it funny that the announcers kept referring to Drakes top 5 being out? Brady Ellingson (Iowa recruit/Starter) wasn’t one of Drakes top 5 players. Frans recruiting might need a tweak, can’t believe a kid who started and played a lot for Iowa isn’t even in Drakes top 5!!!

They put up a stat that had all the injured guys on it and said Drakes top 5.
Good god you post some dumb crap on here. Ellingson started one game in his Iowa career. That’s pretty close to a lot in your opinion? He’s started 31 for Drake.
He avg 11 mpg for Iowa or a lot by your standards. If Drake has five better players, who are they? Ellingson is their third leading scorer and avg 33 mpg.
There is an ignore feature you jack wagon. Elllingson started more games than that. But I see you suck Fran off on a nightly basis, so your too stupid to reason with.
Frans recruiting is garbage, like you.
“Your too stupid”. Wow!!! The irony here.
By all means, name just two games Ellingson started in an Iowa uniform. Put you on ignore and let you spew your nonsense unchecked? No thanks.
Ellingson was the sixth man? Wow, I guess the 6th man award went to the wrong Iowa player.Okay I was wrong he only started 1 game. He was first off the bench for Iowa (6th man). Still sad that he was a contributor to an Iowa team and he is still not a top player for a medicore MVC team. Williams at In state didn’t do anything. None of Frans recruits who transfered have done anything (maybe Wagner in football). Frans eye for recruiting is bad.

Same here.Damn I wanted Drake....I'll cheer for UNI tomorrow but meh.

The most Ellingson played was 2016-2017 and he was 8th on Iowa’s roster for mpg. Also that was the year Baer won 6th man of the year.
Murray state beat Belmont
Belmont might take a bid from a bubble team
They should but don’t know if the committee has the balls to do it.Murray state beat Belmont
Belmont might take a bid from a bubble team
My point is the fact that he played at all for Iowa is embarrassing. That’s my point, how we continually miss on recruiting is mind boggling.
Meh.I actually disagree. I love the winner take all aspect of the one bid league. I find myself loving to watch these small conference tournaments as there is so much on the line. I can see why people would feel bad for the 1 seed if loses, but the winner take all aspect gets me pumped up for March Madness. Ultimately since most of these small conference schools are nowhere near Top 68 you could make an argument that no one deserves to go, so why not have the excitement of everyone having a chance? It’s not like Loyola is that much more deserving to go to the dance than UNI or Bradley that we should give up some intense b-ball tournaments. No one would watch any of these tournaments if nothing was on the line.
Also Drake was the 2 seed so they would not have gone to the dance if they took the regular season champ.
Perhaps because Iowa ranks 13th (of B1G schools) in resources/budget. Or maybe because Iowa ranks 14th in recruiting base, 10th in media exposure, or 12th in facilities. Got me, guy?
A better question is, how does Fran do as well as he does when the University of Iowa is ranked 11th overall in the B1G coaching jobs.
Success improves all those areas and Fran isn’t having it. Pretty much average in terms of Iowa coaching. No sweet 16 or beyond. No major impact recruits coming in and seems to struggle to find talent.
How does KF do it? He makes changes (some good/some bad). But he’s shaken up his staff and his philosophies over the years.
Success improves recruiting base? That’s a strange opinion.
Iowa football: 9-4 or .692 & (5-4) or .555
Tied for 5th in over conf record with three other teams, losing the head to head game against two of those teams.
Iowa basketball: 21-9 or .700 & (10-9) or .526
Alone in 6th place in the B1G.
It appears to me, after “all these years”, one program isn’t much further ahead of the other.
Sweet 16 vs BCS/New Year Six. KF been to 3 and Fran has zero sweet 16’s. Look simply at the program and you will see one is more successful than the other. Year KF went to a BCS bowl. Fran year 9 have yet to get past the first weekend. Hell UNI has more sweet 16’s than Iowa in the last 20years! Pretty sad.
