What Big 10 team do you root the most against?

My top 3, are: Minnesota, Minnesota, and Minnesota.

But, I live in the Twin Cities area, so that influences it greatly.

I just love seeing them get their comeuppance, and nothing drives them more batsh*t crazy than losing to the Hawkeyes in football.
You mean that one game against their third string QB?

Herby got this right, whichever one of them Iowa is playing on a given day....

Nebraska and Maryland: Nebraska because their fans are some of the most obnoxious fans on the planet, I was at the Iowa-Nebraska game this year I thought I was gonna tear the head off of some Nebby fans sitting a few seats behind me. Maryland because their coach is a crybaby and their fans are obnoxious as well, Edsall was crying that Iowa cheap shot one of his players when the play was completely legal.

Again, the correct answer is Ohio State. Root against them as much as you can and if you're not doing that then you're not trying hard enough. There isn't any avenue where you should want to see Ohio State succeed.

Root for Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Michigan, Northwestern, all those other teams that are our rivals, to beat Ohio State even if they don't. The worse Ohio State, the better off the rest of the conference will be. We live in a day and age where monopolies cannot be tolerated. Therefore.............f*** Ohio State and their football program.

Just sayin.

Nebraska, AINEC.

But then I grew up in SW Iowa. And I still don't really think of them as a B1G school yet.

Of the "Old Guard," there's the usual suspects (Minnesota, O$U, Michigan, etc.), but I'm gonna go with jNW. It was kinda cool to see them have some success, being the perennial doormat, but it's gotten real old for me. I'm ready for them to be awful at everything meaningful again.

See what I mean?

1) Nebraska - Grew up in SWI and their arrogance / ignorance fills every crevice of that state spills over into ours. Osborne was a scumbag that would make Urban Meyer seem like a saint.
2) OSU- They are morally an SEC team in the B1G.
3) Wisconsin- Respect them but I still don't like them
4) Illinois- Cheaters on level with OSU but still cant win.

I personally think the Neb hate will build up over the decade but a lot of it depends on where you grew up / live.

You lost me right here. Iowa State is not Iowa's biggest rival. It might be from ISU's perspective but there is a great number of Iowa fans that don't feel this way and would rather not HAVE TO play ISU every year. Rivalry games are fun. I am not sitting here pining for next year's game against the Cyclones, in fact, I loathe it and can't wait to be done with it so we can get into the Big Ten schedule. I've already circled the day after Thanksgiving as a day off work so I can watch the Iowa/Nebraska game. I couldn't tell you what week Iowa plays ISU.

Who is Iowa's biggest rival kind of depends on where you live. Over in western Iowa it is Nebraska. Give it 10 years and this will be the consensus answer, I guarantee it. There is just so much to hate about the Huskers.

If you live in NE Iowa it is probably Wisconsin or Minnesota.

Northern part of Iowa probably Minnesota.

Eastern Iowa, Quad Cities area it is probably Illinois.

The Big Ten being split into East/West divisions is going to have a big impact on who we see as chief rivals over the next 10, 15, 20 years. Wisconsin and Nebraska are probably going to be in the mix for the division more often than not. Minnesota will challenge once in a while. I predict Wisconsin/Iowa and Iowa/Nebraska to really heat up with a special emphasis on Nebraska if there are some big Black Friday games in the future.
This ^^^^^^

It has always been Minnesota for me when thinking about biggest rival. But I dont necessarily root against them. I would say I root against Nebraska the most and that rivalry is heating up for me personally.

This is mine as well. Any fan base whose favorite chant is "Who hates Iowa" moves them to the top of my list.

If you mean that you're a total ignoramus then yes.

I lived in Nebraska in the 90's. had no issue with that team before i moved there. But now after being exposed to their fans on a daily basis, Nebraska can never lose enough or by a big enough margin of defeat.

You have outed yourself nebby troll. That loss still drives you crazy doesn't it? No Iowa fan would feel the need to make excuses for an Iowa win. Should have beat you last year too. Too bad we crapped the bed in the 2nd half.

Only uncultered, hollow, imbeciles would root AGAINST anything. One of the biggest wastes of time, energy and emotion.

I root against the clowns and Notre Dame. Really don't root against any B!G teams unless they are playing the Hawks.

Every fan base is delusional in their own way. Nebraska fans want to win a national championship, and Iowa wants to win 9 games even though they are recruiting MAC players. Both are probably unrealistic, but sports sure are fun.

What the hell is a Hero Game?

And why are all the plaques on it empty?

Just another block of wood with a metal football replica, I guess.

The Ohio State University.

We've only beaten them once in the last 15+ years. Oh, and always Minnesota.

It's a sign of insecurity and lack of self esteem when your happiness is dependent upon the misery of others.

there are a few exceptions in the sports sense when I think it is appropriate to root against a team. If it affects your team's standing. So if your team is in second place it is appropriate to root against the team in first. Against your rival as long as it is done in fun and not some fictional moral bias that permeates message boards and radio call in shows.

That is an excellent point, but you still don't have to root against anyone. Just root FOR whatever team is playing the team in first!

You're kidding, right? I guess I need my therapist to put things in perspective. LOL.

Your handle and the name of this board should be changed to "Shoulda, woulda, coulda"
