WWE Raw

For some reason it felt like for the positive action for the attitude era, there was an opposite, yet equal reaction where the pendulum really swung the other way for a while. It makes sense why fans that really gravitated toward the attitude era left in the early 2000s. Now they seem to be coming back again.
The swing the other way coincided with WWE going public and they felt they had to be clean, wholesome, family entertainment, basically go back to what they were in the 80's with Hulk Hogan. Maybe that was the plan all along, WWF went hard core Attitude Era when challenged by WCW during the RAW/Nitro wars. The envelope got pushed each week on both shows and things got more outrageous, more sexual, more violent. After WCW was defeated and WWE went public, they really toned things down (the John Cena era which I totally skipped). Now that HHH is in charge, you see a lot more edge to the product, good storylines, a good balance between out of control and lame. I think things get more edgy once on Netflix.

So many things would not fly today. Val Venus, the Godfather and his Ho Train, Mae Young giving birth to a hand, HHH drugging Stephanie McMahon and basically raping her, which turned into them getting married.

That's a good point about them going public. I also skipped the cena era. I basically picked it back up right in January of this year out of curiosity.

@Bro D if you want to see some funny shit, you should have seen the end of Sheamus's donnybrook match.
I know this is sad and going to take me forrrrrrrevvvvver but I kind of want to keep watching all this nonsense in order until I catch-up lol

I've made it to live raws and stone cold is a thing now. The transformation is awesome and I'm enjoying the shit out of it. Thursday raw Thursday was the turning point. So ridiculous, so awesome

The Lex Luger push was so weird. I remember loving it as a kid but watching it now is laughable. He sucked
It might have worked with Sting. Luger didn’t suck per se. But the gimmick didn’t fit his personality or ability to relate to fans.

Bruh, Bayley has kicked out of way worse and we're supposed to believe CLR's moonsault would finish her off?

f that.

I'm in 1998. Kurrgan was one scary dude. He should have been more of a thing

you could say that about any men only sports.
Most are fully clothed, and most of us played those sports growing up, so there’s an actual connection.

It’s obviously a very popular form of entertainment, I simply don’t understand the draw.

I won’t hijack the thread. To each their own!

To be serious: We know it's not real, and we know it's goofy, but for the most part the vibes are fun and the storylines are sometimes strange and out of pocket. It's like soap opera where if you miss episodes here and there it's easy to jump back in because the story lines aren't that deep.

It's part mindless entertainment, part nostalgia.

I’m a fan of a few wrestlers turned actors. I’m glad to hear you know it’s not real. Not everyone feels that way though.
