Top bosses at some of America’s largest companies have received more in pay than their companies paid in federal taxes, according to a new report.

Senior executives at 35 different firms – from Tesla to T-Mobile US – received compensation worth more than the net tax payments of their respective employers between 2018 and 2022, the research found. All the companies generated billions of dollars in profit over the same period.

Analysis by Americans for Tax Fairness (ATF) and the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS) found the collective net federal income tax bill of all 35 companies was negative $1.72bn over the five-year stretch – meaning they collectively received more money back from the government in refunds than they paid.

Over the same period, executive compensation for senior executives at these firms – including salaries, bonuses, perks, benefits, stock options and stock awards – stood at $9.49bn.

The Most Beloved BBQ Joint in Every State (Get There Early for #43!)

When you think of the best BBQ, what comes to mind? Perhaps it’s a local joint with a family secret recipe spice rub or where they slow-cook it for hours overnight and run out halfway through the dinner rush the next day.

Succulent BBQ requires a good sauce, the best atmosphere, and the perfect selection of sides. While every region has its own unique taste, only a few can rise to the top of the pack.

If you’re looking to step up your travel game and visit the best BBQ joints in the U.S..

I'm just going to skip ahead to Iowa

Iowa: Jethro's BBQ
Jethro’s BBQ in Des Moines is one of seven locations frequented by BBQ lovers for its intensely flavored menu of good food cooked from scratch.
The menu is huge, but some favorites include slow-smoked wings and the slow-smoked baby back pork ribs. Other options, like the Red Beans and Nice Rice and Smokehouse Jambalaya, are the filling meals you need after a long day.

Just gonna say it, I'll be glad when he's done here. The team is better when he's on the bench. I know he's been through a lot, and I feel for him but when it comes to hoops, he basically just plateaued as far as his game goes. He's not really good at anything. Like when he steps on the court, he's not a threat for anything at all. He's just kinda there. He's one of those guys that I don't hate, but I don't look forward to watching.

His scoring decreased, FG % basically stayed the same, 3pt% decreased, rebounding decreased. It's unreal that he was a starter earlier this year.

/rant. I'll still watch em in the NIT, but this group has done the same thing all season. Hang around, but never get over the hump. I'm looking forward to watching the freshman develop though. I do think we have some young talent.

POLL: If it's Just Biden vs Trump but there's a NOTA Option, Now How Do You Vote?

How do you vote if these are the only options?

  • None of the above

So many people say they don't want 1 or both of these candidates because of their age (and other reasons). They say they want 1 or even 2 different options.

SO . . . if you had the option to vote for NONE OF THE ABOVE, how would you vote?

Controversial mayor posts video with Biden just days after ripping colleagues for 'attacking on a Black woman'

Tiffany Henyard, the Democratic mayor of Dolton, Illinois, posted a video of herself at an event with President Biden just days after she was caught feuding with her fellow officials after questions were raised about her controversial spending.

Fox News Digital previously reported that Henyard has been living like a royal with a combined salary of nearly $300K – more than the state's governor – and frequent use of beauty vendors, despite the 23,000 residents of the Illinois town having a median income of $24K. In addition to a hefty paycheck, Henyard has been criticized for how she uses the town's credit card.

Henyard went on a tirade in a public meeting Monday, declaring, "I’m the leader," and slammed fellow officials by saying that despite the fact "y’all are Black" they were nonetheless "beating and attacking on a Black woman that’s in power."

The small town mayor, who has been accused of wild antics straight out of the sitcom "Parks & Recreation," is being sued for alleged financial wrongdoing by Dolton trustees.

Planning for a British Golf Trip

Dad retires (or so he says) in summer of 2025. Was hoping to take him on a golf trip to Scotland. I know the big courses like St Andrew’s are probably already booked up. Beyond that, any advice on how to get started? Dad will be 73 so mobility might be a bit of an issue and I know they don’t like carts over there.

It’s a pretty intimidating process. Should I just use a travel agent?

Biden raises $53 million in February, now has $155 million cash on hand.

And this doesn't count the $10 million he raised in 24 hours after his state of the Union speech.

Iowa WBB Class of 2026 Top Targets

On paper, Iowa's 2024 recruiting class is one of the best in program history. The Hawks landed four recruits ranked in ESPN's Top 100, including post Ava Heiden (#40), point guard Aaliyah Guyton (#58), guard/forward Teagan Mallegni (#64), and guard Taylor Stremlow (#91).

Thus far, Iowa's 2025 recruiting class looks even better. Iowa got its first addition to the class back in August 2023 when Journey Houston announced her commitment. Houston was ranked in ESPN's Top 20 for the Class of 2025 at the time, but has been moved back slightly to #36 in the most recent update.

Houston was joined Tuesday by Addie Deal, the top recruit in California who is ranked #12 overall by ESPN. That's elite talent that already rivals 2024, and even one more big name probably puts the class of 2025 ahead of its predecessor (again, on paper).

Well, good news for Iowa fans: the Class of 2026 could easily top both of those prior classes. Iowa is receiving significant interest from several recruits ranked in the Top 25 in the class with significant ties to the program or the state.

A Top 10 wing from Kansas City that switched to Iowa's best AAU program? This class has it. A guard from a Des Moines suburb that has been considered a top player in her class for years? Check. And the daughter of an Iowa football legend looking to make her own legacy? Yep. This class has that too.

Packers re-sign Kristian Welch

Packers re-sign Kristian Welch

March 14, 2024

The Packers are holding onto one of their core special teams players.

Linebacker Kristian Welch has re-signed with the team. News of the move came via the NFL’s transaction report for a busy first day of the 2024 league year.

Welch joined the Packers last year after spending three seasons with the Ravens. He did not play any defensive snaps while appearing in 14 games and he was credited with six tackles while covering kicks.

Welch played 43 games during his three seasons in Baltimore and recorded 21 tackles in those appearances.

That was the only re-signed player for the Packers on Wednesday, but the transaction report notes that they officially released linebacker De’Vondre Campbell as a post-June 1 cut.

Women's NCAA seedings

No doubt Iowa gets a #1 along with S Car, SoCal and Texas or Stanford. I can see the committee setting it up so that SCar and lsu will be on opposite side of the bracket, Iowa and OSU will be on opposite sides as will SoCal and Stanford so that if the Top 2 teams form the B1G, sec and Pac12 make it to the Final Four they would meet in the final game IF they win their semifinal game. At a minimum the two sec schools will get this benefit.
