Exactly. I think the PD3 and Teasdale situations show exactly what would happen in this hypothetical, they would set a clear path to redemption for AJ, and if he didn't toe it he would be gone.

I don't disagree. What I'm saying is the value system is taught much younger and then later reflected in behavior over time.
I understand by "mature" you mean emotional maturity or a mature way of thinking. Yes, a 18-20 year old male may be immature. But if they haven't been inculcated with a value system amenable to a new social environment, then there's likely to much more angst in that new environment.
Sure people can change and mature. This requires effort originating from within the individual. I'll continue to hope for the best.

Kid won and got to maybe back his older brother and family a bit. Not sure I would consider this out of line not knowing the full story? Again, not a fan of it, but as Calumet pointed out, it seems to be done very often these days.

It’s hilarious how many hypocrites are on here. Everybody on this board talks crap about PSU and the Andrew long situation and now a bunch of you are ready to bring AJ in with open arms. His situation is much worse than longs was coming in to PSU as well but hell I guess anything for a title. I have no problem recruiting his younger brother but you all sound like fools talking about aj coming in and acting like you care about him having a second chance when it’s clear you just want another title
MAN, this is kinda dumb! We are IOWA!!! Championships are what we all want and what we all expect. Obviously this kid is an elite wrestler. So if you could bring him in? It would be to help WIN! The DIFFERENCE is dummy. NO ONE HERE is saying bring him in without having extremely strict rules for him to make the team.
This is unlike F*** st and the great Kale. He brought in a troubled kid, and there wasn't even any consideration about what he had done. He was brought in with no consideration or regard for his past mistakes. It did not matter!
We have even talked about 2 situations where kids were brought in and never saw the mat. PD3 and Teasdale. Both may have been able to help, neither got a chance because the could not meet standards to make or stay on the team.

The thread is about Angelo - the little brother being #1 recruit in nation and having Iowa in top 5. I don’t see many people lining up for big brother. Just trolls diverting the convo like usual.
But yes another title please. More blue chip recruits and all that.
I TRULY believe, knowing TnT that they are THE place to turn a kids life around. They place an emphasis on molding their wrestlers into upstanding individuals. Call it what you want, personally I hope we never see AJ on our team. However, if we do, then in TnT I trust.
OH, OK, did not realize you were a IOWA fan. Could not tell with what you were saying. For example, I am clearly in the minority about AJ, but as I always do, I back up my case. As pointed out, this is about the younger brother. That is where it gets interesting!
Some on here are so great at life, that they do not even want the HAWKS to get Angelo because of the brother and father!!! Not sure what your stance is on this? I mean, do not bring in the TOP KID in the nation because why!?!?!? I am fully in that boat. I would love to see how that story played out? Going back to Angelo, if anyone believes we shouldn't try and land him. I am not sure you are paying attention. Angelo at 174 would make our future line ups pretty salty and hard to beat. He is about as big of a need as we have as far as weight class! The funny thing is, 197 is also a need, and round and round we go!!!

Nothing surprising here. Every human is a hypocrite, just to varying degrees, on variable topics, and with widely varying degrees of self awareness (I find this aspect the most annoying/sad....and hilarious at times).

I think we should definitely be going after Angelo, can’t judge the kid purely based off his family. I also haven’t heard anything crazy about him unlike his brothers and I could care less if he flexes at the Blair bench. If we need to take Aj in order to get Angelo than yes that is tricky and I would not be interested. I will always trust TnT though regardless. I just found it funny that some were trying to flip things around like they cared about Aj getting another chance when we all would of hated on any other team for going after him, especially if it was PSU.
I started getting confused about it. Started wondering if I missed some nuance about it being a rolling 24hr window vs 24 hrs starting every midnight CT.

For those who want AJ as long as he has a strict set of rules to follow or he is gone. What happens if he pulls another stunt like he did at OSU. Sure he is gone, but what does that do to the reputation of Iowa? Not worth it in my opinion.
I watched the brother at the junior duals a few years ago. I can honestly say that I did not care for the way he acted. I will just leave it at that. Kids grow and mature, so he may be a great catch for some one. Time will tell.

The point I was making about the younger brother flexing at the Blair bench was not that that particular action makes him a nonstarter. It is that type of egotistical behavior (more concern for himself than his team) is exactly like AJ. AJ’s more serious self involved behaviors began when he had more freedom in college. Angelo’s behavior suggests a similar egotistical trend that could portend more serious issues in his future.
The Andrew Long situation is totally different from Ferrari’s. Cael taking Long to PSU was detrimental to Long’s well being causing him to end up in Jail. Long needed help with his problems, but instead of help from Cael, Andrew was put in a bad situation.. Long was to be getting help at ISU, but Cael interrupted that help to help Cael and PSU win a championship.
I wish we’d see this much work go into to picking up high ranked recruits without excessive baggage.

He said Riggins would have his RS pulled and be our 57 this year…. I said he’d 100% RS and wrestle at 65 as I knew he’d have little chance of unseating Cobe, especially with the added cut he’d have to make. Riggs indeed made an experimental cut to 57 and we saw the results. I’m happy to give $500 either way as I do anyway as I always donate that at minimum this time of year anyway with the plunge coming up. I do feel some sort of split should be in order though…. Or a least a good faith donation from him as well.

That being said from what I know of the family I wouldn’t recruit the kid if it were my call but if Tom is recruiting him. No problem. I trust he knows what he’s doing.
