#1 Ferrari considering Iowa in top 5

Don’t want them anywhere near the Iowa room….. That picture tells me all I need to know about the kid

Maybe IF the first thing Tom does is sit down him and his Dad and make it completely clear that behavior isn’t going to fly in the Iowa program

we’re sending kids the wrong messages by allowing that….. hell even in the NFL they have taunting penalties…… a league all about showboating …… that crap is best kept in the idiocy that is WWE

Show your opponent some respect….. show the sport some respect

I hope they wind up at Rutgers ….. perfect place for them….. what was the kids name Ricky Lewis? that ran off the mat his whole match against Marinelli then got a lucky td at end to finally win one and celebrated like that

Not worth it

I actually don’t get too fired up about this stuff. We’ve had our share of boorish on mat behavior. Though not desirable, it is relatively harmless in the grand scheme. Maturity can be taught and learned. Maybe there are other reasons not to recruit this kid but I don’t really think of this as one of them.

Off mat stuff is a whole other animal.

Could it have been handled in a way to save the relationship between the school and family?

Did the school cut ties with him or the wrestling team?
No clue. All I know is that it was a long slow process. He would have been dismissed even if the latest criminal allegations never came to light. There was a mountain of complaints against him.

yea Gilman comes to mind…… I’m a geezer and this is a get off my lawn thing I suppose….. but I’m not a fan of that shit…. points to character flaws and it’s not like character isn’t a concern with that family

but hey honestly I don’t know the kid….. or his family and I’m basing my opinions largely on hearsay

like others have said if Tom see’s it fit to recruit him….. I’ll trust his judgment

I would have to guess the majority would disagree with you on AJ.

I could be wrong. Not the first and certainly not the last. LOL
I would be one in the minority that would agree with him. You GET Angelo! Then you wait and see how everything else plays out. He said IF AJ is fund not guilty. I said the same thing. That would be part 1. Part #2 would be to fully explain your rules for giving him a shot.

I have said that I would have him enroll in school for the Spring semester(if possible?). That way he would have like 6-7 months to prove himself without ever being on the team. Would he agree, have no idea. Not seeing how this would be a bad idea?

I would also love to know how he was as a teammate and how he was to coach? This would be part of the research I would be conducting IF I was even considering him. I would also be doing this for every kid I wanted!

Was/is he a good teammate? Is he someone you liked having in the room? This to me tells me a lot. If he is coachable, and someone that his teammates liked? That is something that would be important. making NO excuse for his idiotic behavior, but some kids get out on their own, have some success, and things quickly go to crap!

I do understand that it does seem to stem from the father and maybe a problem with upbringing? IF however the IOWA coaches could grab him and lock him down some, you MAY have a diamond in the rough.

For what its worth... his would-be future teammates sure seem to want him on board (Block/Keuter/Arnold/Ayala/Jesuroga/Kennedy/etc..). If the coaches want him, and his teammates want him, that's good enough for me. Obviously they think they can 'handle' it. I don't think Iowa is such a soft program that if by chance it ends up being a 'room cancer' situation that the whole program would just implode. No, they'll rectify the situation and move forward.

everybody passing judgement should remember, it was the quite religious young man who was running from the police a few years back. point is you never know.

Yes. AJ has court in early February. If AJ is found not guilty should Iowa be recruiting him? Yes.
What if Iowa knew the plaintiff withdrew the complaint only because there was a negotiated civil settlement that included a non-disclosure agreement?

I don't see Iowa wanting to go near AJ in this case. I believe Iowa's position would be in deference to sensitivity to its newly formed women's wrestling team.

Angelo is a huge recruit should Iowa be recruiting him ? Yes . Anthony is an amazing talent who has a misdemeanor battery charge he's getting sorted out. Once that is done should Iowa be recruiting him? Yes. AJ has court in early February. If AJ is found not guilty should Iowa be recruiting him? Yes.
There are some pretty serious allegations against AJ, could it all be BS? Sure, I suppose, but even if he isn’t convicted it would still be a real bad look for a top college program to bring him aboard with the totality of baggage he brings. To my knowledge Angelo has never been accused of a crime.

They seem on board with Angelo or AJ?

Angelo. But if the rumors are true that it's a package deal (possibly with all 3 brothers?), I'd imagine that they aren't ignorant to that possibility. This is not me trying to make light of the very serious charges against AJ. My stance is always innocent until proven guilty (unless there is glaringly obvious PUBLIC evidence of a crime - aka school shooter - something where there is no doubt). He will have his day in court in February it sounds like.

In cases of sexual assault, you have to give the benefit of the doubt to the victim making the accusation. 99% of the time there is absolutely no reason to lie or to put yourself through the public spectacle, especially with a high profile athlete. But I'm not going to completely ignore that false accusations do happen, however rare they may be. I know that will sound callous to some, or that I'm just looking for an excuse to get him on our team. I mention it only due to the fact that I have personally seen a great guys life nearly ruined due to a false accusation. I know nothing of the facts of this particular case. If somebody privy to more information would like to enlighten me on the details, I'm all ears.

I say all of this to arrive at my final point, that IF it ends up happening - I trust the coaches/teammates to make that call and moderate the situation. If it backfires, can the sh*tapple just like Downey. This is with the assumption that he's cleared of charges. If not, don't touch it with a 10 foot pole. My guess is that it will ultimately be up to the University anyways, not Tom & Terry. This is all speculation based on the package deal assumption. Would be great if we could get Angelo regardless of where the brothers land.

My .02.

First, I am not a huge fan of A.J. regardless of whether he violated the law or not. That being said, I don’t think that his brother should be punished for his brother’s indiscretions—whether perceived or real.

I am chiming in, however, to say that, IMO, your 99% figure of trusting the victim is way too high. Unfortunately, sometimes “victims” make decisions that they later regret and they spin a version of the facts that can snowball and lead to disastrous consequences that can affect themselves and others.

I looked around and couldn't find anything to confirm this statement. Do you have any links?

Virtually all of those guys listed liked Angelo’s recent Instagram post of him in an iowa singlet. Morningstar also. A handful of those guys listed also commented on the post.
It definitely appears the team is in on his recruitment, which is good to see. We have such a great core of young guys, with high character, that it seems a no brainer to try and get him on the team. I don’t see the coaches, nor that group of guys letting one person rock the boat or get away with anything.

Well, let's say he assaults some unsuspecting Iowa student and fails the experiment. Could you explain to her and her parents that put their trust in The Univeristy of Iowa how it wasn't a bad idea?

Add in all the actual victims of these kind of crimes that do NOT press charges against the assailant and the 99% is wayyyyyyy low. And that is a fact.

Well if we are going to be dealing with "what ifs" then you are going to be going through life affraid of everything! You make decisions based on your knowledge, information you have, judgement, etc.... I might not take a shower in the morning because what if I slip and fall!?!??!?

The 99% figure is WAY high! This is a fact. Many women may get up and have some regrets on what happened the night before. It had gotten so crazy that some schools had a "contract" to sign if you brought someone home! I remember reading Ohio State had something a few years back. It was so ridiculous I am not sure what became of it?

That is NOT to say anything about AJs situation as I have no idea. It is also NOT saying there isn't a bunch of sh*t Heads that need to be put into a wood chipper!

I am not sure how much of a indication having a "like" is, because I am not big into that world. It almost seems like a courtesy these days.
With that being said, it is possible that the staff is still on the fence about how much they want to pursue the kid and it is also possible that they are blinded by his skills to his effect on the team. It is also possible that he is going to be an asset to any team he is on and he will be a model citizen.
I lean towards one of the three scenarios, but I have no way of knowing which is correct.
I do find it somewhat telling the he taunts the coaches of a team that threw his brothers off the team (Blair), after beating one of their kids. How did that video ever become public? Was it the dad who posted it or someone else?

I addition to his personal Twitter account ("mrfasttwitch") the Ferrari brothers have a collective account that is available here:

That's where I found the video. To me, it's just another sign that the brothers are three peas in a pod.

So, you have the experience of many women regretting sleeping with you, eh? Sorry about that.

I tend to avoid drunk women. But that’s sometimes difficult when playing music out or catching live acts. Lol

Well the key word here is "many" which should more likely be Plethora!!! Understandably, you would not have this "problem" : )

What I am saying though is. Yes I have seen it in college, and had a friend who I played Lax with in HS have his college days ruined by some HO who claimed he and his teammates raped her. They were all proven innocent but the damage was done.

Again, NOT defending AJ or anyone else. What I am saying is it goes both ways so be careful out there my friends!!!

Ok then. Get the kid on campus and see how he does. On another note, I've seen our coaches do worse than this over the last 10 years, so how can a guy flexing like this really bother fans?
I have no problem with the kid. The flexing doesn’t bother me.

Not sure what videos you found. I will make the statement that I really don't use twitter etc... but I clicked on the link you provided and took a look. If I am being honest, and I am looking at the page that I saw when I clicked on the link. I am not seeing anything that I would consider bad? Now I certainly can be missing a lot.

I saw many posts about deadlifting 665(very very good!) I saw a video promoting some socks. Several work out videos that were also pretty impressive. Several comments about GOD, family, the 2nd etc...

Certainly is a little cocky if you will for my taste, but it is a fact that many/most if not all of the very best athletes have an edge to them. With todays, everything is on video and the internet. Promoting yourself and building a base of followers can not be frowned upon.

For some time, the story has been circulating that Angelo had a different kind of personality and was not troublesome like his brothers. The flexing (and at least one interview that I have seen since then) suggests that he might be more like AJ and Anthony than we have been led to believe.

Meh… Flexing after a big win as a high school kid isn’t a big deal, imo. We wouldn’t think twice under different circumstances.

I just don't think flexing is a deal at all.

If taking 2 of them, sign me up. If taking all 3 I have some reservations, but if it means having Sat night at nationals be an Iowa love fest then I could be swayed.
