That was also a 7-10 matchup.....and we might as well had not even shown up to play that game. Might look similar this year.
I love everyone complaining. If you can’t beat Cincy or Tenn why play the game?
If we make threes, we win. If we miss threes, we lose.
Like the Match-up. They aren't anything special playing in a mediocre conf. We should be able to dominate inside. Last time I looked we are undefeated out of conference.
I imagine Cinci is probably more concerned about playing Iowa than Iowa is about Cinci tbh.
I think it’s even more bs that they aren’t a 5 or 6 seed...the committee must be making up for it by allowing them to play first round at home. Brutal for us.
A team resembling that Davidson team that Fran steam rolled 3 years ago would have been a winnable type. If iowa gets blown out by Cincinnati, maybe a wakeup call to Fran. You gotta have athletes.

What am I missing? Iowa lost to Cincinnati in 2005 and I believe Kentucky in 2001.

It's a decent draw for Iowa, as good as can be expected I think. Cincy I'm sure is a very good team but Iowa has a full freaking season of playing against solid and varied (including physical muscly opponents) B1G competition, so if Fran can't prep for this opponent, it's all on us. As great a chance to win a first round game as possible other than getting to play a Northwestern State type team. Doesn't mean that we win but this isn't Zion fueled Duke.

When has Iowa come out with any fire in the last 1.5 months? Lots of fire at Nebraska. Iowa would have a chance against quite a few teams but Cincy is not one of them. You think our guards have struggled in the big ten against tough D wait until you see Cincy lock them down.

Had some fire against Illinois. Started great against Michigan. If we make shots, Iowa will win this game. I hope you aren’t watching.
Based on what I've heard, Fran isn't incapable of getting Iowa sufficiently on the scoreboard, they worry will be whether Cincy gets to abuse our D. Hopefully with 3 bigs, Iowa can weather them.

Tyler Cook is the key in this game. He has to play defense vs POY Cumberland. He can out athlete him. I like it.
Now on to PG. Their PG is small 6’0 at most, so that allows Bohannon to not get out of position on D and can shoot over him on offense.

Half dozen times. Wouldn't need to see them at all. Their strengths are Iowa's weaknesses: Defense, quickness, athletes, guys who crash the glass. Not a great shooting team but Iowa has remedied that for a lot of teams this year. It will be Cook vs. their interior. Don't see Garza faring well against their quickness. Maybe he can get hot from 3.
