I'm sure that's exactly what Fran will tell the team in the locker room before the game.Gonna get smoked

I don’t know a ton about Cinci but from I can tell we should have the advantage inside, particularly if Garza is playing well. Pound inside, open up some higher percentage looks from 3 and make it rain.Don’t think it’s that bad.
I think Garza is key. Dude is huge. Old school big man basketball. Give him rock on block and make them pay or kick it out.
We got what we deserve. We either man up or go home!!!Terrible draw, Cincinnati should be a 5 seed. And even if we do find a way, then it's Tennessee, who could easily have been a 1 seed.
Did you expect the 10-seed to beat the 7-seed?
Btw we have a chance to possibly avenge two tournament losses in that first weekend.
2005- 1st Rd Cincinnati 76, Iowa 64 (Iowa finished 21-12)
2014- First Four Tennessee 78, Iowa 65 OT (Iowa finished 20-13)
I saw a theory on the Cincy board that since they were seeded lower than expected, the committee balanced it out by putting them close to home.
What I thought was strange was a potential Minnesota-Mich St matchup in the second round of games. Conference rivals rarely meet that early in the bracket.
Yep. Hopefully collectively the B1G does well. The three teams placed in one end of one region's bracket is very odd. When is the last time two B1G's faced each other in the round of 32?B1G sorta got hosed when I look at the bracket overall. 3 B1G teams in the Duke bracket. Only one B1G team placed in the one first round location squarely in the heart of B1G territory (Iowa in Columbus, with first game against a team whose campus is <2-hr drive away). Only 1 B1G team in the Midwest Region, and it's a non-contender. #3 Purdue gets rewarded with a potential 2nd-round matchup against the defending champs in the Northeast, 3 hr drive from their campus. #4 Wisky gets to travel to the West Coast to play the Pac-12 Tourney champs in the first game. Just doesn't look pretty.
Bar fight: "I'm taking Cordell for sure". Definitely miss him.Gonna miss that kid.
No way we are winning. Fran is not a tournament coach
Watched cincy dismantle a good houston team in their conference champ game.
And yes, completely unsurprisingly, they have a significant athletic advantage.
It would be one of the bigger 10 over 7 upsets as cincy probably belongs on the 6 line.
Its not a home game because Columbus locals will support Cincy, it's because a high number of Cincy fans will pay to make the short trip. At least that's how I think it will go.I used to live in Cincinnatti and for the record a game played in Columbus is NOT a home game. The city of Columbus have absolutely no interest in the U. of Cincinnatti. Hell, half of Cincinnatti doesn't support that team but supports Xavier.
The people of Columbus only care about OSU.
A comparison would be that UNI is closer to Iowa City than Cincy is to Columbus. If UNI played a game in Iowa City do you think the local fans would care? NO they wouldn't.
So, stop with the Cincy playing on their home court BS. That is totally wrong.
You should also know I am a lifelong Hawk fan. Let's just not use home court advantage as a reason we might lose.
Plus, a 1.5 point spread between a 7 seed and a 10 doesn't seem to show me any home court advantage.
Carry on.
Some years back we lived in Sharonville. I believe there were more X fans where we lived. Could be wrong tho.I used to live in Cincinnatti
Unreal. Possibly the worst match up for Iowa. Team whose calling card is in your jock man D with a ton of athletes and they play a home game. What bs.
When Iowa plays well, we can beat any team in the nation.
Nah, because Iowa > everyone.....Uh, what?
Because we caught Michigan on a bad night earlier?

Cincy does not have a loyal fan base like most major conference teams. I'm not so sure they will travel in mass.
I would fall over dead with a heart attack. When has Iowa EVER been given any favors by the committee? And if Iowa was placed in DSM, would you be calling BS?
------Total bullshit. Fvcking 7 seed getting a home game
Does it matter? The Big 10 is overrated, and should not have gotten 8 bids....Iowa included.
My expectations are that Iowa will lose in the exact same fashion they have lost their last 5 of 6 games.
Uh, what?
Because we caught Michigan on a bad night earlier?
I'm seeing 11:15am8 pm FridayWhat time is the game?

Did I miss something here? Is he leaving? (can't see original content)

Yikes, even if we won, UTenn would steamroll us anyway.
Did you expect the 10-seed to beat the 7-seed?
They have some athletes, but Tennessee just got steamrolled by Auburn as well.
Agreed, Tennessee is a tough team but they are beatable. They lost to Auburn both times this season, barely beat a bad Vanderbilt and mediocre Alabama.
I can't believe all the whining on this forum since yesterday. Everyone was worried about getting an 8-9 across from Duke and now they are whining about getting a Cincy team that barely beat UCONN twice and getting Tennessee. Of the top 8 teams Iowa could have been matched up with in the second round, Tennessee would probably be my choice to play.

Iowa got a REALLY good draw in the tournament.....if a run is even possible they're in the region to do it. Even if they somehow manage to get past Cincy and Tenn., they'd likely face Purdue or Nova...not terrible in my mind. Hope they manage to find some motivation in the next couple days.
