Just got back from the game. Perfect weather and a nice ass-whoopin! Bearssss

Listened to it driving back from columbus. Sounds like Da Bears kicked ass and caleb had a good game. Looking forward to watching it tonight.

Owens should be able to fill in and be solid.
The interweb mentioned Hicks getting the start in Brisker's absence but I agree there's enough talent back there they should be okay.

Really hoping there isn't a letdown. Getting to 4-2 heading in to the bye would be a big deal because the schedule isn't getting any easier

The Bears finally got their guy. It almost doesn't seem real after decades of coming up short in the qb dept. Keep building around him and they'll go into every season with a realistic chance to make the playoffs for the next decade plus.

I feel like the current Bears are like the 2015 Cubs. Next year, they’ll fill the holes (offensive line) and be a legit Super Bowl contender.

Taylor was a brilliant pick
As much as I've been desperate to get the Iowa to Chicago connection rolling, I'm still pretty lukewarm on the pick. And that has nothing to do with tory, he's been good. But a legit gm and assistant gm, both with offensive line backgrounds, should have been able to find a sleeper starting quality C or G in the 4th round. I'm sorry but a guy who impacts a handful of plays each game isn't more valuable than one playing 70-80 snaps protecting the franchise qb.

Disagree

I think it's too early to call Caleb the savior but things are looking better than they have the last few QBs. One thing I still think about is that the Bears have beat some crappy teams. HOWEVER, they have dominated those teams with a rookie QB and the guys on crappy teams are still pros too. I know you wanted to draft down but you don't think Caleb is starting to look like a legit QB that gives the Bears a chance most years? They NEED a better o-line but I think we got what we need to get with QB1 so far (not a bust at this point).

I like Tory and glad we have him. Drafting the GOAT punter in the 4th is probably better than hoping a 2nd tier o-lineman works out. I could see that either way. My dad hated the punter pick that early so I fiercely defend that pick with him.

Edit. Tory was 4th rounder

The Taylor pick was great. People don't realize that the talent in the 2024 NFL wasn't very deep because of it being the last extra COVID year + NIL booming. To think you'll get a starting caliber guard or center in the late 4th round of this draft wasn't very realistic. Getting a top punter in the league for a 4th round pick was a no brainer. The fact it we got him because of the Carolina trade makes it even better.

Bears definitely need to improve the line. Hopefully Poles can work his magic at the deadline like with Sweat last year

Must not be an Iowa fan if you don’t think that a punter can significantly impact a game. Especially for a team that is typically reliant on their defense more than their offense like the Bears have been throughout their existence.

Less than halfway through his rookie season and Tory had already earned special teams player of the week and broken a franchise record in different games. He’ll only get better.

There are a bunch of guys drafted in the 4th and beyond this year starting on good teams. Plenty on the lines. If Tory punted at Iowa state we'd hate the pick. Again I'm just lukewarm... not totally railing against but when we start playing good teams again, our C and RG will be back to getting dominated.

You also have to put this in context tho - bears had one of the worst punting units in the league last year….upgrading there was an absolute must, and thus far I’d say it’s paid off.

You also have to gauge whether you think he’ll be there the next time you pick and how wide the gap is from Taylor to whoever you had as the #2 punter.

Taylor picked in round 4.
