2026 MBB Recruiting Offers

I was at the Assumption vs Davenport Central game last week.
He did nothing remarkable. He didn't even start, though that may have been because it was Senior Night for Assumption.
I know it is a small sample size, but I find myself confused by the offer. He didn't strike me as more athletic than the other guards on the floor. Decent size for a PG, I guess.

Recruiting HS basketball is all about the AAU season. HS games really don't mean too much these days. The AAU games are typically more competitive and higher level players.

I get it. I was just expecting that a player with a Big 10 offer on the table would at least stand out in a game against a mediocre conference opponent.

He would just be another Toussaint or Bowen.

ISU is definitely looking at him. He's a good prospect especially if he continues to develop.

Looking at that aau team Twitter that had coon from storm lake on it and they mentioned a 2026 kid from IC West...Juju Manson.
Is he hawk FB guyJason Mansons son? Are we interested?

Iowa offered 6'4" PG Navon Shabazz on Feb 15, 2024.

He unofficially visited Sep 30, 2023 (Michigan State football game)

He unofficially visited Super Bowl Sunday, Feb 11, 2024, in the win over Minnesota.

Check this out & watch:

Jaidyn unofficially visited Sep 30, 2023 (Michigan State football game). He also unofficially visited Feb 17, 2024 (Wisconsin MBB game). Iowa coaches were at his high school to visit with him on April 30, 2024. His AAU team for 2023 is D1 Minnesota (part of the Adidas circuit).

Hard to get excited over just interest. I used to get excited and start following when there was an offer, but I believe Fran and staff are over 50 offers for the 2025 class, so seems pre-mature to get too excited even over offers.
I'm excited about the kids offered. It's just it has to be so tempered because of the success or lack thereof, from the higher rated guys offered over the last 15 years.

Fran just needs to keep finding the under recruited kids like Aaron White. Iowa is a developmental program, if it can keep kids 3-5 years. Or keep cherry picking the mid major transfers when possible.

Under the new system, keeping players with any talent will be a huge problem for the Iowa's of the world. We might be able to keep getting mid majors talent but even that going to get expensive.

Never in a million years would I have thought that Tony's NIL value would be this high per year

FWIW, tracking recruits and offers two years out, seems like fools gold. Fran's track record has not been good securing commitments that far out. Even the in-state kids don't seem to get very excited about an Iowa basketball offer anymore.

I'm not up on the latest Iowa HS talent. Any up & comers of note?

Iowa offered 6'7 SF Austin Brown on July 23, 2024. Rivals reports him having offers from Iowa, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, TCU, SMU, Stephen F Austin, and Sam Houston State.

At the 2:30 mark he says that OU, Creighton, Iowa and OSU are recruiting him the hardest.
