For anyone who hasn’t watched the 30 for 30 “Catholics vs Convicts”, Uncle Joe is featured pretty prominently in it. He was one of the guys selling the tee shirts.
CJ is so overrated it's comical. The way he left says a lot about his character and that of his family. If he wanted to leave, fine, be respectful about it. Instead he denied message board rumors up to the day he left. Now he's at a program where if you aren't a one and done caliber player you don't get much, if any, PT. So he can revel in the glory of making some 3's when Kentucky is up 20 and enjoy his role as a reserve.

Reeves, Toppin and Wallace shoot 3/17 from deep. Kentucky turns the ball over 18 times. CJ gets 0 shots despite being a better shooter than anyone on that team. Calipari and Uncle Joe doing some galaxy brain stuff over there.
Totally different players. Payton is a true small forward who can defend bigger players. CJ was not a great defender but he could shoot. And, as noted, Payton doesn't get injured like CJ has/does. Payton is a tough kid.

He could have been a solid contributor at Iowa had he stayed healthy.

Despite a huge slump Sandfort still a more efficient player than CJ this season. The truth hurts sometimes. Sandfort will be fine while CJ continues his slide into irrelevance. Don’t miss him at all.

CJ is the only transfer that gets any animosity simply because he was completely shady about transferring. He behaved like a child and deserves the dislike fans have for him. Jack Nunge on the other hand is respected and supported along with Joe T. It says something when a kid finds a way to show how classy he is or how classless. But CJ's gf is hot.
No kidding. Sandfort is more dynamic and can go inside as well. Doesn't even get into the fact that he's not made of glass......

Perhaps CJ can play for a team with consistently atrocious defense (IOWA at +100 ) and not for a team with good to fair defense , Kentucky.
if a coach values defesne, CJ won’t play as a regular, only a specialist (versus zone or end of game FT).

CJ has started the last 4 games, all wins, and has played 37, 36, 35, and 28 minutes and scored in double figures in 3 of 4. Against #5 Tennessee, at their place, he had 13. Had 10 points, 5 assists (1 TO), 2 rbs and a steal last night.
I love that its not working for them like it used to.

CJ was a very good all around player as a freshman and probably the best shooter Fran has had.
He did leave like a total bitch though.

Sarr shot 44% from 3 that season. What would you say they were complaining about? Not having a better 3pt. shooter? Or not having a strong big man who could score inside?
Not sure what the relevance is but it depends on how much time was left on the shot clock.

Not even close to being the best shooter Fran has had. He got a lot of open 3 point looks thanks to Bohannon and Garza and he was decent at making them. He was very selective, I'll give him that. Better: Gatens, Bohannon, Murrays, Jok, Uthoff and maybe Sandfort to name a few.
Well, they had a full shot clock to work with. Sarr never posted up, he was setting screens out at the 3pt line the whole possession, which ended with a pick and pop where he bricked a 3 with about 5 seconds left.

I disagree. The 3pt percentages would back up my opinion but I understand not all shots are the same.
Some of those guys were probably better in certain situations. Off the dribble, off screens ect but just shooting wide open shots CJ was right there with Kent McCausland as nearly automatic.
Weiskamp is better than most of the ones you named id say its between him an CJ.
Sandfort too early to tell TBD, could end up better.
Again, why do we care about CJ? His GF looks cute. Why hold a grudge against her? I just hope KY doesn't have great success, but I hoped for that before CJ transferred there.

As I said, CJ was very selective in his shooting, which is generally a good thing, but guys like Bohannon, Jok and Gatens didn’t have that luxury. They had to hunt shots and they still made them at a much higher volume. But if you strictly consider percentage and nothing else, I’m sure CJ is up there, with a very low volume.
CJ may have been better than 0-19 Payton but not recent payton.
All you have to remember about CJ was that Oregon game in NCAA tourney...CJ couldn't get his shot off and he didn't guard very well.
