Did CJ Fredrick Ruin His Career?

He missed six games as a freshman and four as a sophomore. CJ started and averaged 26.6 mpg in 84% of the games he was at Iowa. I don’t think “rarely available” is an accurate description of these numbers.
I’m glad you enjoyed his time at Iowa.

I’ve learned that minutes per game can be a misleading stat. It’s what you do during those minutes that makes a difference to me.

There’s a 20+ minute a game guy on the team now. He’s had “a few” pretty good games in his career. Sadly, a majority of them haven’t been but his PT hasn’t declined much at all over the years and he’s averaged 8.4 ppg, 3.2 rb. I’m not warm and fuzzy about his game either.

Playing hurt reduces your ability to produce on both ends of the court. It would have nice to have a healthy CJ at Iowa. Maybe I would have a more positive assessment of his time here. He just never moved the needle for me.

I would have been fine had he stayed at Iowa. Because of the way he chose to leave, he might as well never have played at Iowa. Just IMHO......

His uncle gave him some really bad advice. Really bad.

CJ did Fran and Iowa dirty by waiting so long in the cycle to let Fran know. Really put Fran behind the 8 ball in regards to getting a transfer.
He and his uncle did burns some bridges with his long relationship with Fran. Way he did it to after saying he wasn’t going then bolted less than a week later after Fran met with the media day.

But actually it paid off for Iowa. So late in process of finding a quality transfer Fran convinced JBo to come back for his 6th year who was all but done. So late in the year we had JBo and CJ was hurt, again.

Not sure where I said I enjoyed his time at Iowa.

It’s what you do in those minutes…. Like lead the entire country in assists to TO’s as a sophomore? While shooting .467 from three as a FR and SO.

The point was that playing 84% of the games is hardly rarely available. Like KCEast said. CJ’s play here was fine. His exit was not.

Ok you’re “fine” with his time at IOWA.

He suited up for 84% of the games of which how many were compromised because of his foot injury? There was a noticeable drop off in his D skills from fresh.to soph. seasons due to his ongoing foot issue and to me was more of a catch and shoot guard that created few shots off the dribble. I wasn’t unhappy he left and the way he went about revealed a lot about his character. My opinion only.
