Downey just tweeted that he wants tobe a Hawkeye

He posted live video of a girl giving him a parking lot bj without her consent. Or is that considered no big deal nowadays?

He also took it down then put it back up just to taunt her.

But then there are things like assaults, drugs and general douchebaggery.

I tend to believe this is just one of those bogus stories that gains traction because of the inherent circularity of social media - a modern day equivalent of the game "whisper down the lane".

I don't see the Iowa staff giving this more than a passing thought - if that.

It would be difficult (to what degree, I'm not sure) to support the team or HWC if he showed up in IC.
Wendy, you shouldn't stop supporting the HWC or the Hawks because of one person. I don't think they're going to let him on the team unless there has been some potent signs of "repentance.". Open your mind to the possibility that people are not beyond redemption.

Having said that, at this stage, I don't want him here either.

I can forgive a lot, or at least move on from a lot, but sharing explicit videos without consent crosses a pretty big line in my world.

And like I said, I don't know to what degree my enthusiasm would be affected, but I do know it would be.

It wouldn't just be one person. It wouldn't just be him but also those who made the call--the ones running the program.

I don't like the kid at all. But if the coaches bring him in so be it. He is a stud. Controlling him and his Dad is something else. I wil trust the coaches. And we only need to deal with him for a few months.

And I should also say, once again don't care for him, but if there was social media back in the day a lot of our guys from the 80's and into the 90's would be screwed. Anybody who went out in IC and ventured into the Sports Column and saw certain wrestlers and coaches would know exactly what I mean. I have a million stories that make Downey look like a choir boy.

Also, this isn't a matter of someone who has a "good" reputation and makes a mistake. He's consistently shown poor judgment, to put it lightly. I wish him the best and hope he can find a straighter path/figure things out, but I'd rather that not happen in IC. I also realize my opinion means zero in this situation.

Fair enough Dub. My point is not all the team from the day went to the library or church. I think Downey is a turd. I was only saying if the coaches who are very straight shooters want to take him. Then fine.

I agree.

And I'd also get a kick out of seeing them wheel a box (with air holes) mat side before introductions and have McRibblet emerge, the staff remove the large red ball from his mouth before letting him off the chain for his match and then forcing him back in the box to be wheeled out of public post haste..

I am surprised that not a single major club didn't even want to sponsor Downey at WTT. Hasn't he been with Titan Mercury or NYAC or Sunkist before?

Cael=Andrew Long, Tom=PD3. Does Tom want that hanging around his neck?

Mike I was watching a home makeover show with the wife a month or so ago and I believe the electrician was your posting name. They were doing a lake home in north Texas and it turned out to be a sweet pad. Was that your company? Nice work if it was

The entire culture has shifted since then. It isn't just social media. It is a different world.

Iowa, nor any other team needs this potential cancer. What a waste of talent but he is a grown up and so is his father. I doubt a decent d2 wants him either. Several reasons and non are in regard to his wrestling abilities. So sad.

Never seen so many experts and know it alls about a kids life that make ALL of their judgements based on speculation, social media, or heresay...Look at if from the other side of the coin one time and pull your heads out of the mud....what would be a better story than him coming to Iowa, being around the right group of people, mentored by some great coaches, post grads, having a solid group of teammates, and turning his life around? The same group of "experts" will ALL be his biggest fans when he adds 18-20 points for the Hawkeyes in Cleveland next March...how many kids you think we have lost in recruiting because of this expert crowd......See you soon Pat.....in black and gold!

Iowa is an awful place to tame the issues this guy has. It is one of the biggest party schools in the country. The temptation will be everywhere. And taking him in the first place only feeds most of his other problems. He doesn't need guidance. He needs to grow the eff up.
One of the many parties at Iowa City
Funny+Fat+Girl+in+the+World_3.jpg
and here is PD3 in the middle on his recruiting visit at Toms house

. I see Tom is still recruiting for a heavy weight!

Actually very little if any hearsay at work here.

Your reading comprehension sucks as most have already said they don't care how many points he adds.

Why would Iowa want a recruit that gets turned off by an anonymous internet message board? Not going to do well in college if that's the case. And never mind a message board full of recruit fan boys.

Did she consent to the bj? If so, as long as he isn't profiting from the video, consent is meaningless. Sorry, but I don't feel bad for her. I didn't grow up in this social media wave, so it was never even a thought to video this type of stuff. But, it IS damn near mainstream with the younger generation. Which is why almost every celebrity female has a sex tape.

It may not have been the gentlemanly thing to do, but he is far from standing out from the crowd for sexually active guys his age.

It is absolutely great to have a core group of guys with great work ethics and morals. But I could go through almost every Iowa team that won a team title and name 1 or 2 guys who were either not the best workers, partied too much, and or were prima donnas or all three but were unreal wrestlers when the lights were on.

Not saying bringing in PD3 is a good idea or not. I have no in-depth knowledge of the situation, but I think having a few "characters" on your team isn't the worst thing in the world and may actually be a good thing as long as you are not letting the guy lead the team and the majority of your guys are good character guys.

I do think if he has been training with Dennis Hall, which was mentioned on this thread, that he is probably very aware of what it would mean to wrestle here and that Terry is well aware of what he would be dealing with. So I will trust the coaches to make this choice.

That being said, I would advise the coaches to keep David Taylor far far away from the Iowa program. That kid seems like a loose cannon.

There are many D1 schools looking at PD3
It's about winning and having
National Champs and AA regardless of what people think

Again, I don't feel bad for her. Don't do such an act and LET someone film it if you don't want it out there for anyone to see. Pretty simple. Is he a dick for doing so? Yeah. Is he unique for doing so? Hell no.

If you want to list things that would effect his wrestling or that of others in the room, there are definitely things to list. To me, this isn't one of them.

This post is pathetic. I'm sure you'll respond because you can never let anything go, but you should just quit while you're behind

Way to victim blame. What Downey did is completely unacceptable, and just because other people have done it before him is not a good reason to not care. Sharing pictures or videos like that without consent is never ok or justifiable.

good thing that one easily offended lady that quit reading and posting wasnt around for MSU 158's posting that drivel. We could have a war. While I disagree that the young lady is a "victim" that (and many other of his social media posts) show a complete and total lack of class that his athletic ability should in no way allow him a platform to continue-anywhere.

Troll Rating = 9 out of 10. Even Jammenz would be proud of this effort

Sheesh guys. Overreacting. I didn't say it was right or justifiable. In fact I called him a "dick" for doing it. I simply said I don't feel bad for her and don't see how him posting the video automatically makes him a bad teammate.

I have a 2 year old daughter by the way and I love her with all of my heart. I would never want her to go through that. But, MY JOB is to educate her enough for her not to be DUMB ENOUGH to let someone video tape her doing that. I would hope she will have enough character to avoid doing it to someone like him in the first place, but at least know better than to let it get recorded.

THAT IS MY POINT. She was dumb enough to do it, so I don't feel bad for her and him showing it off doesn't effect my opinion either way on whether or not he would be a good wrestler for Iowa.
