Drake Ayala?

What are the two asterixis for on Gilman?

I was wondering the same thing. I think one of them could be, and correct me if I’m wrong, is that though he’s technically from Iowa, he wrestled for Skutt Catholic High School in Omaha, Nebraska. I’m not sure what the second one would be for.

Say Ayala goes elsewhere. Is there any interest on either side for Stevo Poulin? Is he to small? What's our options if Ayala's not there for the Hawks?

He ranks 14th in p4p as the second best junior lightweight behind number 2 Richard Figueroa.

He can stretch his scholarship money much farther in state than out of state. Trust me my daughter originally committed to UIC and made the switch to UNI and she will basically go there for free. Granted she got a better offer, but in state was the huge difference.
Sometimes we forget that college is not just about sports and the main goal should be to get the degree in the field of study you want. Not sure what Drake is looking at majoring in, but that may have something to do with his lean as well. Kids change there minds so fast these days. He could be leaning OSU this week and Iowa a month later.

Can't believe Stevo is still wrestling. All the pressure his dad put on him at such a young age. Probs to him but wherever he goes you're gonna get his dad as well...

I feel better about have two studs in the pipeline for 125/133 and I am not confident in the health of Schriever.

Correct. Neither him or his brother have been too active this year. Doesnt sound like he's fully recovered

Good rumor on Drake and his choice. Coming from someone with no dog in the fight but covers wrestling so who knows. I just like a rumor that favors us (from a person that covers it) than hearing not Iowa. OSU pushing hard. ISU is a possibility (very, very low) as they have all the money and auto spot but not impressed at all about all the other recruits shunning them and something new, the “David Carr” treatment. I do think ISU will be in until the end for political reasons (like Teake and Rathjen did) but looks like Iowa or OSU.

Stretch your money as far as you like, but if the quality of instate recruit isn’t top shelf, we’ll be back to battling for second place in March.

But we do need to land Ayala, imo.

Dub - I totally agree. And he is surely a priority for Iowa. And I was very happy to hear someone who covers the sport likes our chances. I have some clue on the money but there are so many moving parts. I was quite surprised on the ISU feedback but maybe I shouldn’t as there seems to be a reason none of the blue chips are going there even with full ride and walking into starting.
