HOLY S%$T!! Harris 47 Trump 44, Final Selzer IOWA POLL!

I’ve never encountered anyone who seemingly self-sabotaged himself more than Trump.

Whiskey, you appear to have bought hook line and sinker the idea that the VP has this huge role in the American government.

Do you think Gore, , Cheney, biden, pence were hidden during their time as VP? None of them exactly were highly visible. VP, again, has two major functions in the government….serve as a placeholder in case anything happens to POTUS, and serve as a tiebreaker in the Senate.

So exactly what else do you think Harris should have been doing?

Cheney orchestrated the Iraq War.

You don’t think there is fluff in other gov’t agencies/programs…outside of SS and Medicare? 😳
For sure there is, but not enough to get to $2 trillion.

Total spending for FY2023 was around $6.1 trillion. Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP and the ACA were $1.6 trillion (24%), Social Security was $1.4 trillion (21%). Defense was 15% of the spending.

Now tell me how you plan to slash $2 trillion worth of federal spending without touching health coverage and Social Security.

Long-term something will need to be done to reign in SS and health coverage costs as it’s mathematically not sustainable for our economy, national debt, etc. To say otherwise is simply sticking our heads in the sand. The reason no politician (on either side) wants to bring it up is it’s certainly not a platform to help get elected.

Pic? 😉

The whole group! LOL

Oh if she had an R next to her name you’d rave about her you hack.
No, there are some R politicians (both men and women) whose speaking styles don’t endear me to them. The bigger issue I have with Kamala is her flip-flopping (telling different audiences what they want to hear) and even using different accents in front of different groups. She is so fake. I still chuckle when she was talking about community banks, which are banks within our communities. 😳

oddly enough, you know who was actually a fairly consequential VP?

As hard as this may be to believe: Dan Quayle. His competitiveness council was quite active at quietly directing a lot of domestic policy during his VP tenure, and frankly, a lot of what they focused on became the seeds of a lot of the administrative law challenges that you see percolating in the legal system these days.

Flip flop like Trump’s stance on abortion?

What “stability in the economy since the pandemic”? You mean prices that stably continue going up. 😉. Also, “Trump chaos”?…who was the president & VP the last 4 years?
I'm not going to get into a back-and-forth with you, but Trump's mishandling of the Pandemic crashed the economy. He kept telling us that it was going to go away soon, especially when it would get warm. Remember that? He didn't lead during the Pandemic, he strictly reacted as newer problems kept coming. He was out of his league. Older people have seen this before in 2008-09 when our IRAs lost 50% of their value and we are not going to put Trump back in power. He is unfit for office, plain and simple. Just ask those who worked for him in his first administration if you don't believe me. Don't take my word for it.

Although he doesn't get the credit he deserves, Biden got the country back on its feet. Yeah, inflation was a problem, but it was a worldwide problem, largely attributed to things out of Biden's control, like supply lines getting restarted and shipping bottlenecks from other countries, and also a lot of pent-up consumer demand after staying home for over a year. People were ready to start their lives again after being penned up and some were willing to pay whatever it took in order to do so. Biden also passed the largest infrastructure bill in history and also passed bills like the CHIPS Act, which also helped the economy in creating more jobs and keeps us from from being so reliant on other countries, some not so friendly.

Unless you are against free markets and demand full government intervention, you don't have much to complain about. Lots of money was spent by the government in both administrations but it kept people fed and rents and utilities continuing to be paid. Critical businesses stayed open and kept the economy moving. It was just too bad there were people who abused the government assistance and that started during the Trump administration. Probably from a lack of oversight.

Add to all of the above, most people are just plain tired of Trump's "Act". He is not hosting The Apprentice anymore. He has to lead people in real life, and he is just not capable of doing so. He offers nothing new for the future unlike what Harris has proposed. I only hope she has a total Democratic Congress that will work with her and not obstruct things, like the recent Immigration Bill, you know, the one Trump ran off the tracks. He is just a selfish person and only cares about his own interests. We do not need that.

The only thing that hasn’t been tried is the one thing that will work. A single payor. Get insurance company profits out of the mix.

Dems don’t care. They think the answer is to tax everyone into oblivion and spend more.

Not exactly mathematicians.

That's not how this went.

I pointed out that you can't cut $2 trillion worth of federal spending from a pool of $6.1 trillion without slashing SS and health coverage, so of course a segment of older voters are going to oppose a candidate who is touting such cuts. The math I provided shows this.

You said:

Now you're backtracking with "Long-term something will need to be done to reign in SS and health coverage costs."

So tell me: What is the "fluff in other government agenices/programs ... outside of SS and Medicare" that will supposedly cover the $2 trillion in cuts that Trump is campaigning on? Those are your words — not mine. Math doesn't lie, but you might be.

It’s weird that Republicans think you can come anywhere close to eliminating the deficit without raising taxes. The math doesn’t math.

It’s weird anyone thinks we have a revenue issue instead of firstly a serious overspending issue. Tax receipts are at an all time high. It is never enough for the political welfare union class.

Billion dollars for Pelosi’s husband’s business? Sure why not?

What spending issue????
