If there are no fans in the stands

Huh?
That's like saying people in plays aren't actors because there are people there.....
Scripted for TV. Season 121, Episodes 1-4 bring in the new characters. Episodes 5-8 hit climax, Episodes 9-12 heartbreak, happy ending with bowl game.

No way we have fans. Too much uncontrollable contact. It could be a choice between football with no fans and no football at all. I'd choose watching on tv and at least be able to see games played.

Let’s hope by the first weekend in September things will be much better to have fans in the stands. Wear a mask if need be but if they are going to allow students on campus, then they should have fans in the stands. If you choose not to go due to the current situation then that’s your choice but fans should be given the option to attend.

Just my opinion on fans. But I could very well see a mixed response come this fall where some schools based on what state they are in allow and some don’t. States like Iowa, Nebraska, Texas, Florida, SEC country etc allow fans come Sept. and others like Cali, Oregon and NY don’t.

Would it be an unfair advantage, yes. But why punish those capable because others can’t. Too much economic impact to say if one can’t none can when it comes to allowing fans.

Why Stadiums Are Incubators for Coronavirus Spread
Sports fans are longing to return to the stands, but health experts say stadiums are one of the highest-risk areas for coronavirus transmission. Dr. Peter Chin-Hong, an infectious disease specialist, walks us through how easily the virus could spread among the crowd. Photo: Associated Press

Just picturing this scenario of no fans in the stands...
What will Melrose/ parking lot areas look like? I have a feeling people are going to want to still come to tailgate and watch the games outside of the stadium and cheer as loud as possible to support the Hawks if they can't physically be in the stadium. I'd imagine there's going to have to be a lot of local law enforcement needed to keep people out of ramps/lots/etc. to control everyone. That could be a mess.

Yup, this would unfortunately still happen regardless of how rampant the virus is. The 70k people that would go in to watch the game would instead be in crowds right outside the stadium.

On Saturday I watched a Bundesliga game (German soccer), without fans. Yes it was odd. You could hear all the players yelling and not much else. But it was great to see some action, and the players went all out like they usually do. I think for them it had to feel like a scrimmage.

I don't see a way for fans to be in the stands, but I hope to God there's football in whatever form.

If they can Identify the people who have been exposed/recoved from Covid19 and the folks who have a natural immunity, I can see them being able to attend. Give them a special "I can do anything I want" wrist band and a matching photo ID.

We have to be looking for ways to responsibly start opening up large events in the next few months.

Anybody that hasn't gotten it needs to wear a gold star on their chest.

I have heard so many fans about blow their lungs out yelling. Easy to see how it would spread even in open air.

There would then be about 10% of folks licking doorknobs and ATM key pads until they got it.

We’ll stand around the stadium. 6 feet apart. And we’ll still bring terror down upon them.

Those inflatable suit deals so you put one on that is so big you have to stay 6 feet apart. Just have to pee down your leg to go though.

If they play with no fans, it might be cool to pipe in the fans cheering from previous years - really load! Could still have an effect on the other team.

You don’t allow fans in a couple years there will be no organized sports and eventually no pro sports. It’s not difficult to see this progress when every youth activity has been cancelled.

next year if there is no vaccine you are just going to have to live with it. Otherwise you will see DIII go bankrupt like crazy and the end of organized sports.

You know some TV exec is considering this:

Allow one fan (or family) per seating section with a camera. People pay different prices to see the game from different sections.

There would be no going back for any of the major programs. TV is almost in full control now (start times, unreal amount of commercial timeouts). Attending the games in 2021 will be even worse if it's only TVs in 2020.

I certainly hope you are wrong because this is a misinformation campaign of epic proportions. When I see goofs driving around by themselves with a mask on I understand the depth of the problem. MSM has scared people while select governors put those at the greatest risk in harms way to drive up death totals. ( hello NY). The CDC, WHO, Gates, they all want you panicked. It’s working it would appear. If the home opener is open to the public I will have zero issues going. And if by chance I get hit by a bus and die.....it’s not frinking Covid19 related. What a sham.

I think it’s about time for people to take personal responsibility. If you are scared of getting sick, don’t go to the games. It’s time to get back to our lives. We would have been through this pandemic if we just let it run its course like the flu. Just kicking the can. If you are scared, stay home.

If 10,000 people get sick that otherwise wouldn't have the week after attending a football game, for each football game across country, the season won't make it into October.

And what if 5 people get sick?

70,000 in the stands + 30,000 in the lots that don't attend a game, from all over the state/country? There will be outbreaks larger than 5.

One person infected 53 at a choir practice in Washington state - and they were trying to keep their distance from each other.

Well let’s use some facts here. The diamond princess cruise ship would serve as a good example. Of the 3711 passengers and crew, there were 712 infections. Now that is about a 19% infection rate and I feel we can agree that having everyone quarantined on a cruise ship would provide some pretty close contact and easy transmission. So if we take your number of 100,000 people at a 19% rate we are looking at around 19,000 people getting infected. Mind you this is before the CDC changed course on wearing masks. There have been studies that show there being an 80% reduction in infections when masks are worn. So 80% of 19,000 would be about 3800 cases. This doesn’t factor in the amount of people that already have antibodies that would produce a herd immunity effect. I can only imagine the herd immunity and people with antibodies to be much higher come August. So yes, anything at this point is just kicking the can. If you are scared, stay home.

Wear masks. No tailgating. If you are high risk stay home.

people act like a vaccine is a given. It isn’t.
