well we didn't convert on 4th down, fumbled and threw an INT. consider that punting 3 times.
Fairweather fans. There will obviously be growing pains with Stanley, but he's learning from game to game and building on it. At some point the team will gel.
Coaches are doing fine and I'm sure are exasperated at the turnovers and lack of execution at times.

I'm very happy Iowa at least is trying to do new things here, and it makes sense there'd be some issues doing so. Moving the ball wasn't a problem so much as continuously moving the ball. Stanley's inaccuracy is a lot of that.
And let's face it. Iowa hasn't played a solid first half yet this year, dunno why today should be any different. Iowa had, for all their issues on offense, just short of 250 that half.
The defense though, rush defense...that's where the half's issues really were at. I believe they will.
Folks just need to chill here...

I've never liked the bend but don't break philosophy. The defense is out there way to much and thus the offense isn't out there as much as it needs to be.

Are you seriously satisfied with how Iowa is playing at home against Illinois with a 1st time QB? Iowa played pitifully. If they had played like this against PSU or MSu they would have lost by three TDs or more. Iowa clearly had more talent than Illini, but play like they don't, playing scared, playing nervous, don't have any tenacity. This is not Iowa football. They need to wake up.

It's half time and Iowa's up four. If Iowa plays like they did in the 1st half they could easily lose this game. You're assuming Iowa comes out at half like they did against N. Texas. They should, but if you're not nervous about this game right now you must not be a die hard Iowa fan.
yeah, he should have said terrible game, turn the channel....seriously. Competitive, close in score... "heck of a ball game" can mean different things to different people...to the announcer he probably wants a close score than a big Iowa win...

Thought Easley was the reason for a penalty. Then they thought it was the hands to the face (which has to be called every time). It was very obviously a late hit on Easley in the end zone. What game are they watching?

Anyone who thought this game was going to be easy has not watched enough Iowa football this fall- tackling needs cleaned up. I think we still cover but knew this would be tough

So would you guys rather they didn't pull out all the stops? Coaches can't help IKM fumbling on our first series. If we score after Illinois's initial fumble we might just have stomped them right down. Instead they got the momentum right back. Stanleys pick put them right back in plus territory. And NO I'm not calling to replace him yet. These last couple of weeks have been a struggle for Nate, but he keeps getting up and fighting back. We'll find out this season if he's going to be the guy going forward.

Just because the game is close does not make it a "heck of a game." Iowa vs. Michigan State in the B10 championship game, a 13-9 game, that was a great game. These two teams are playing like they're in the MAC. They'd both probably lose to Central Michigan if they played them today.
That's a legit criticism, but didn't know he played last year. Either way, if he was a backup on last year's Illini team and this year? How good is this guy? Right now, not that good. Iowa's making him look better than he is.
"We got a close game at half. Should be interesting to see how the second half plays out after the unpredictable play of the first half." Something like that. Or maybe, "We've had some crazy plays in this game, some big plays, some big mistakes. Who knows what we'll see next half." Still build up the hype, but more honest.
More like, we wish they didn’t have to. Any Iowa fan paying attention for the last decade could see this type of crap game against one of the leagues worst teams coming all week long. This has been a pitiful so far.
Listen I can get as frustrated as the next guy, but there is a threshold you have to kind of try not cross to not come across as... well I won’t say what. I get the frustration but some of you are going overboard.
