*****Iowa vs Ohio St Game Thread*****

If OSU stopped throwing it so often, they'd be killing us right now. They're averaging 7.3 yards per carry. I'm thinking they will go run heavy in the second half after a fumble by a WR and an interception from Will Howard.

Not a bad half all things considered. Only being down 7 at the half in Columbus is something all of us would’ve taken in a heartbeat coming into this game. We at least have a chance.

Still, we left points on the field (Cade waaay under throwing a wide open receiver and the missed FG).

OSU dominating everywhere but in the score.

The 2 turnovers have killed them (Iowa with 0).

11-4: First downs

199-90: Total Yards

110-18: Rushing

Iowa leads in Time of Possession: 14:33 to 14:27

In NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) games, cornerbacks are allowed to jam or make contact with receivers within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage. After this 5-yard zone, they are not permitted to hold or impede the receiver's progress. Any significant contact beyond this distance can result in a defensive holding or pass interference penalty.

Ohio State needs no help. They should have to earn it.

Is this the most lopsided 7-0 half in history?

I didn't expect the offense to set the world on fire, but this is 2023-ish.

Unless the ball is in the air. Which it was

no they a
They just aren't going to call holding on the DBs no matter what they do. Guys can't turn around. When they do turn around they can't separate.
re but I am sure Ferentz is in their ear, LOL

The problem is that Iowa played a great half being down only 7 but you just get the gut feeling that OSU can explode on you at any time
That's why McNamara coming up way short on that woulda-been TD to Wetjen in the first quarter, the missed FG attempt, and Kirk chicken-shitting himself out of the punt fake 1st down-turned 22-yd shank stand out as much as they do.

Iowa can not afford to "aw shucks, we'll get em next time!" when it comes to scoring chances & maintaining possession in a game of this magnitude.
