*****Iowa vs Purdue Game Thread*****

If the Hawks can't make a noticeable dent in this lead by the first media timeout after half, I'm gonna bail.

I've seen this story (road game @ PU, in very recent past) too many times before.

I bailed after the illini game. No way were doing anything at Mackey vs this team.

What an exhibition of lousy half-court offense by FM Iowa. I watch hundreds of games and teams can consistently get their shooters shots in half-court, but not Iowa.

well, Purdue definitely looks like the #1 team in the country

too bad our shooting is so horrific

How Iowa got to 21 points:

9-24 (38%) from 2 point range
1-10 (10%) from 3
...................................................
10-34 (29%) overall shooting

0-0 Free throws!!!

21 points

I get the women are good but are this many people really excited to watch womens basketball? It’s like nails on a chalkboard.
Because we like to watch good basketball where players make shots (not airball them), the defense plays good sound team defense and doesn't give up wide open 3's, and refs that will actually blow the whistle when fouls occur. Crazy

GAME

OVER

It’s like Fran just decided **** it, wasn’t even worth trying to play tonight. Why even show up if that’s the case?
Yep, im sure the game plan was "guys, take the same shots you always do but tonight I want you to miss them."

Iowa isn't anywhere close to being competitive in this game. Not only is Purdue better at probably every position, Iowa has nobody to match up with their big guys. It just isn't happening for them. At least I can watch the girls game.
Let's not get crazy. Kris is better than anyone on the court except maybe Edey.

Well nobody else is doing anything and the shot clock is winding down by the time he's taken his shots.
Part of the reason the shot clock is running down is that the ball is sticking in Connors hand and not moving. 7 seconds is still decent time to run some stuff. I get why in the moment he'd shoot that.

Its almost like the coaching staff gameplanned a loss from the get go.

"TRIPLE TEAM EDEY EVERY TIME HE GETS THE BALL!!!!!!"

And then watch as all the open PU guys get great looks from the perimeter or EASY drive opportunities off of close outs.

Dix also has unforced turnovers. Connor dropping dimes is our only offense.
I saw a single dime....he only averages 2.9 assists per game so quite an exaggeration to say he is ever the offense ....the big problems is they are missng most of their 3pt shots. If Iowa had come out an played some defense instead of giving up wide open 3 pt shots to purdue, it would be a game.

Anyone else just going to watch the women until their game is over? The men just had the odds stacked against them tonight.

Actually, they're doing a much better job defensively than I thought.

If Iowa could have hit some open shots this would have been a competitive game.

They have hardly driven into Edey at all. They've settled for bad shots rather than trying to drive and draw contact.
Exactly.

They stop at or just past the FT line and shoot it into the rafters - to get it over him - and miss badly every time.

The Kris Murray that is 3-7 from the field for 6 points and has 1 rebound in the entire half? That Murray. I like Murray and think he's a good player, but we all have to understand he isn't his brother. He's got the tools, I'm just not sure he has the mental makeup that his brother and other great players have. He seems to disappear in these big games more than he takes over.

Iowa women doing their best "(men) @ MSU" impression tonight.

Missing a S*IT load of FTs.

if u have a daughter that plays b-ball, i guess you might care about women's bball and start threads to the 40 or so posters that care.

MYbe Ogundele can get 10 minutes and add some defense, rebounding, and high efficient scoring

may be the only IOWA guy in the plus +/- column

The other option is Eddy backs down Rebraca every possession and fouls him out by half time and lose by 50.

Purdue is an average team without Eddy but he's the toughest matchup in college basketball right now.

The Purdue guards have 17 points. What is the halftime margin?
More than wide open 3's. The opposition is hesitant on their normal makes because of Edey. I haven't seen much from their guards on D, or creating a shot & making it.

Sorry, they are average.

Disagree, their record says differently. Don't see to many average teams ranked number 1 second week of Feb.
I think you are confusing us with them. We are average....bau for Fran.
Fran knows average.

I very much disagree with that.

But Iowa @ Purdue is always a bad matchup for Iowa, in the last decade or so.

Yes, thats why he's the second leading scorer in the conference.

No coach in their right mind would take any Purdue player besides Eddy over Kris.
