Ihmir Smith-Marsette on Iowa's 2018 offense vs. 2017: “Way more explosive. More trust. More playmakers. Everything. Just go out there and have fun.”

Many of us have been waiting for words like that for almost 20 years. Wow. "Explosive. Playmakers. Just go out and have fun."

Yes, please. Don't worry about making a mistake. Do what you do, and absolutely act like you enjoy it. It's a game, after all, a lesson it apparently has taken KF 20 years and having his son as OC to learn. Thank goodness for Brian Ferentz.

Too many times KF teams have looked more like coal miners coming in at the end of another long shift than kids thrilled at the prospect of playing a game.

One of the main reasons the Cubs have enjoyed such a resurgence the last four years under Joe Maddon is that Maddon gets it. It's a game. Have fun. Don't worry about making mistakes. Do what you do. Be who you are. It's a beautiful philosophy for any sport and for life in general. And I'm looking forward to seeing what it looks like in black-and-gold on Saturday.

Go out there and have some fun, Hawkeyes. You'll be glad you did...and so will KF.

When you want to find something to back your opinion, you dig for it even to the coal mines. Looks like you did.
