major winter storm on Xmas eve?

If it's busy you could be waiting in line -- getting a ticket and going back to your car, basically -- up to or over an hour.

They solid but overpriced a bit. Their carts have always been good. 500 dollar spending limit. That or X ounces limit. (2?) Bout all I got.
Hypothetically speaking, as a non-Illinois resident, if one were to wander into gummy territory, what are we talking about in terms of goods and pricing? This hypothetical person wouldn't be looking to spend $500, but rather to get a representative sample of what the good people of Illinois have to offer.

Pretty interesting that they're still not all that certain about snow totals on this. Not really sure it matters once the wind kicks in, too.

Either way, tomorrow through Saturday are gonna suck for anybody that has to go outside.
Radar for Iowa is fairly empty. Minnesota seems to be getting it pretty good.

Typically gummies are 100mg a bag or so. Individual pieces depends -- some are 5, 10 or 20mg. Typically under 25 dollars a bag. (no idea your tolerance)

Fuzed Sleep Sour Gummies are really nice if they have them still. 7.5 per with indica, CBD, CBN and melatonin. You will sleep well.

Impartial to Wyld gummies. Tastier than most and a nice selection of type. Dunno if they're in Milan now.

If you haven't done this before... at least get an Indica, a Hybrid and a Sativa. Also try something with CBN/CBD in it, if you're into relaxation.

He's just mad because he was trying to make a poster look dumb, but in reality he was the dumb one. Honestly, it's a thing of beauty.
He doubled down nicely as well. When they start to hurl insults it's when you really know their IQ is in the teens and its literally the best they could come up with.

The second QC dispo was supposed to open by Christmas in Moline, but it does not appear they have done any work over there yet, which is annoying. Desperate need for competition both to ease line waits and to bring prices down. A third company has pulled a building permit, but no solid plans announced yet.

First world stoner problems. I store my water pipe in a little hidey hole off the family room that gives access to the house fuses. Imagine a very shallow but tallish cupboard.

Anyway, this area for whatever reason is not insulated so abuts the outside wall and siding. I go to spark it, hit it, and nothing!

Freaking water froze! In the house! Bummer man. Will have to make do with this pre-blizzard bourbon until it melts I guess.

This storm has bust written all over it. Gonna be super cold that's for sure. The blowing of the snow will be bad Thursday night out in the open roads. Are we even gonna see 2 inches of snow

Depends on where you live.

"These additional amounts to make for projected storm totals ranging from
just under 3 inches in the far southeast, to 5-6 inches northwest

of an Iowa City to Dubuque line."

morning NWS narrative for QC

Local weather guy predicting 2-4” for QC and with it being light and blowing it’s going to seem like much less.

This is going to be much more about the wind and cold

Blizzard was a little over the top. But we need tv ratings. The weather nuts are the same people that shit their pants about Covid and are still wearing masks. Some people love fear.

2-3 inches in central Iowa. Visibility is 2-3 miles in country.

It’s really cold with the wind that’s about it.

It is brutal outside….just miserable. Went out for about 30 seconds to grab something from a vehicle.

Maybe 2-3 inches in Ankeny. Wind is really starting to pick up. Brutally cold. Not the snowmageddon they originally predicted, but still not the kind of weather I want to be out in.

Meh, you don't need a whole lot of snow to have a blizzard and the actual warning for that doesn't begin until 6pm IIRC. And I believe they're more concerned about a ground blizzard once the snow stops (and the higher winds crank up) more than anything else.

The wind ain't even started yet really here in CR, not the big winds anyway. NWS latest report is NW @ 29 mph but it isn't howling yet at my house. Just short of 4" on the yardstick on my deck for snow, still snowing too.

We got a couple days to go yet here. And if you feel like this is all about TV ratings, I invite you to go out tomorrow morning and drive around in open country with 50 mph gusts and let us know how that goes.

Yeah exactly. Honestly with at least a couple inches of powdery snow already on the ground and the winds that are coming….I fully believe tonight into tomorrow is not going to be good.

Just got a dusting in north Iowa. Visibility is pretty normal and the roads are fine. We lucked out for the most part.

The drive into work this morning on 380 through town was not too bad but there was still a lot of snow blowing around. Most people were keeping speed around 45. Not looking forward to the drive home tonight or the drive tomorrow when the wind really picks up.

I’d guess 4” here, wind hollowing, -35 wind chills. Visibility from my acreage is probably 3 miles, but once the winds pick up even more we’ll have a nasty ground blizzard on our hands.

Starting Wednesday night we all will experience temperatures and wind chills that our homes' heating systems are NOT designed for. -20 to -30-degree temperatures with wind chills into -40 and up to -50+.
Newer homes will struggle to maintain temperature and older homes will NOT maintain temperature and the temperature WILL drop while the heating system is working at full capacity.
1. Please raise the temperature in your home on Wednesday morning, 2 to 4 degrees above your normal setting.
2. Take all programmable thermostats out of setback mode and set on a permanent HOLD.
3. If you have a furnace; replace the filter.
4. Keep garage doors closed.
5. Limit opening exterior doors.
6. Make sure air vents and radiators are not blocked or obstructed.
7. If you have a 90%+ furnace and boiler: You must keep the intake and exhaust clear of ice and snow. During these cold temperatures, ice can build up. A 90%+ furnace and boiler have 2 white PVC pipes; an exhaust pipe and an intake pipe that are generally on the side or back of your home. In some instances, they are on your roof, do NOT go on your roof to clear the pipe.
If the temperature in your home is dropping and your radiators are HOT with boiler systems or you have HOT air coming out of your vents with furnaces DO NOT PANIC. Please make sure that your heating system continues to operate.
If the temperatures drop in your home, it will not be able to recover until temperatures rise and the windchill diminishes. Our heating systems cannot overcome temperatures -20 to -30 with wind chill up to -50+. They are sized to operate at 0 degrees outdoor. Put your thermostat on hold 70 degrees or higher.
To help minimize temperature loss you can boil water, make soup, or stews; they help introduce humidity and warmer temperatures into your home.
DO NOT USE YOUR OVEN or a GRILL TO HEAT YOUR HOME.
Please check on neighbors and elderly residents during these extreme temperatures and stay safe!

Yep. If people on 380 thru town are doing 45 instead of the usual Cannonball Run speeds, probably pretty slick.

I had to run that gauntlet for 18 years, and during winter I hated it. There would be times when there seemed to be someone who got into the rails around the bridge curves almost daily during/after storms. And of course drivers coming up behind the wreck check up their speed, have to get over, etc...

Stay safe out there going home. Hopefully most all motorists will have their shit together and drive appropriately.

Dude. I will be riding my fatbike.

30 years of commuting to work out of town between 25-50 miles one way. Today wasn’t top 100.

I do invite those that drive like shit in bad weather to stay home.

Slow down and leave enough space between you and next car so you don’t need brake. It isn’t rocket science.

Kwwl called it a once in a generation storm. That’s either ratings hype or everybody was born yesterday.

I already brought the Weber inside to keep the family room warm!

You seem to be missing the point that the blizzard warning doesn't even start until this evening when the winds kick in. The light fluffy snow is just the appetizer that will set up the major issues with the 40-50 mph winds blowing that snow as the main course.
Please send pics of you on your fatbike tomorrow.

Just took a little joy ride around and outside of city limits is where it truly looks like a whiteout blizzard with the ground surface winds and light fluffy snow that has already fallen. -45 wind chills

Pretty sure the blizzard conditions start tonight. You should also read up on the definition.

Face it, calling it a "bomb" cyclone makes you watch. If they called it a "happy time circus" cyclone you wouldnt give two shits. Its a winter storm in Iowa, bundle up, drive slow, buy the last pack of hot dog buns and quit over hyping a winter storm.
