Nate Jesuroga?

I was reading an interview or book about it and it was a SF guy talking about the SF selection process and what SF actually does compared to what the general population thinks they do. Very little of what SF does is actual being pipe hitters. They have to have high interpersonal skills because much of their job is organizing, training local folks I.e the Northern Alliance at the beginning of Afghanistan. Many times, they are the first Americans on the ground…before all the diplomats. He did say that there is small percentage of guys who are the pipe-hitting, direct action type but they usually find a home elsewhere in places like Delta.
Psychopaths can be charming and manipulative in the extreme. Most aren’t violent. That’s not the trait I was talking about. More the tendency for calm, cool and collected under pressure.

That is contradictory (not saying it's wrong) to what was said about those on the autism spectrum being well suited for the job. I can promise you that interpersonal skills are not a strength of this group of the special needs population. Far from it. Thanks for sharing it is interesting.

Only one person mentioned autism. That’s not the folks I’m talking about.

Steep climb for Nathan Jesuroga, a 17 year-old high school senior. Average age of Navy Seal team member is 33. Few enter program as 18 year-old (required age) recruit. Much maturing needed, and the acquisition of high level skills.

This is such an interesting discussion. But your high level achievers? Most are on the spectrum or exhibit sociopathic/psychopathic tendencies.

Psychopaths in particular “tend to be successful”

I still remember the documentary of the worlds best free climber. And his girlfriend of course asked the very dumb question of what was more important- and his answer included something about dying by falling off the mountain was more important than her. Lol.

Did you ever see the 30 for 30 about Nick Piantanida? Think it was title Angry Skies or something along those lines. He was a crazy as hell looking to set the free fall record after going up to the edge of space by a balloon. That guy had to be a psychopath. Lol

Didn’t. But added to my list.

But yeah. Those dudes, the weirdos that ‘fly’ in the suit - all lack the ability to feel fear. Just literal, crazy, human beings.

Love the 30 for 30s but that particular one I really didn't have much interest in watching. Turned out to be one of my favorites. You'll enjoy it...

So would there be any disadvantage to wrestling this season or even in college if his goal is to eventually be a SEAL? I don’t get the framing of this as either/or unless I’m missing something. I would hope he could do both things.

What's Jesurogas height and weight 5'5" 106lbs? He would have to climb a ladder to stab you in the ankle. I doubt he'll be first choice in a deployment to Afghanistan or North Korea.

now about nate j cannot be mad at anyone for wanting to serve their country, but i do not think a high school senior can know for sure that being a seal is a gimme, hope he realizes that recruiters will tell you anything to get you to sign
Have heard from a few buddies in the Navy that if you enlist with the intention of going to BUDS and wash out, the navy chooses your rating for you according to their needs. So you could end up as a barnacle scraper for the duration of your contract

I would think by now someone else would have chimed in about him moving in a different direction other then IOWA. It was pointed out that this ass clown seems to get off on throwing stupid crap out. maybe it gets him clicks? I don't know or care too much, but if he somehow got word? Then I think the news would be out from others also.

He only weighs 106???? No wonder he’s burnt out and joining the Navy. That’s a hell of a cut.

You would be surprised how many seals are under 5'8".

But seriously, I weighed that much as a senior in HS- I wrestled 108. I always thought I would be at a big disadvantage in the military. if they are choosing candidates, wouldn’t they be more likely to choose a 5‘7” 170 pound guy? I would think the physical challenges of BUDS would tend to weed out people my size.

Family friend and one of my dads best friends was a 5'7" 140lb Green Beret and Delta operative. Everytime he was challenged about his size he would recount stories of famous SEALS and special force's "mighty mouses". He would never brag about himself but back when I was in hs I was 6'2" 205 and a pretty good athlete. The dude could run circles around me and I was shocked what he could lift. He always greeted me with a death grip handshake that could take you to your knees. Dude was a bad ass.

Additionally my uncle a Vietnam Vet always tells stories of special forces guys that were tunnel rats. They specialized in demolition and explosives. They could crawl into tight spaces take out enemy soldiers and blow up their tunnel systems. Most of these guys were small dudes under 5'7".
