Probably releasing top schools.
He tweeted something about "big news coming on my birthday" My first thought was he might be announcing his verbal but who knows? No offer from Minny for Carter? Interesting..looks like Iowa, ISU and Sparty top 3.

You're probably right. Hope Iowa is one of the three. He’s probably announcing his top 3

Given Iowa's movement on offering some new targets at DE ... I'm wondering if this is indicative of him notifying the coaches that he's opted elsewhere [if he has, in fact, made a decision to commit].You're probably right. Hope Iowa is one of the three.

Alternatively, maybe Iowa's move to offer other DEs has moved up his time-line?
I'm happy if the young man chooses the Hawks ... but I'm equally confident that Coach Bell will find good guys to fill the room.
I'm sure that is part of the story. However, I also am inclined to believe that the coaches wouldn't offer a guy if they didn't believe he had a big upside. Given how the Hawks can be "stingy" with their number of offers ... they have to really feel good about a guy to put out an offer. I'm sure that there are a bunch of guys out there that they really like who they haven't offered either ... they're still likely gathering information on the guy and/or they're continuously reappraising their personnel to determine their needs.Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the only new offer Demetrious Allen? I believe the reason for that offer is the big upside.

Idk why the 2 DE commits we currently have would really affect Carter’s commitment. Iowa typically rotates 7-8 guys on the line, with guys that don’t start still getting a lot of reps. Plus, Carter is such an athletic freak that he could probably find a spot on either side of the ball at Iowa.Given Iowa's movement on offering some new targets at DE ... I could totally see him inside. He has the frame to put on the weight to do so.Graves may not end up at DE.
Inside on the OL is my prediction. He could be an amazing OG.I could totally see him inside. He has the frame to put on the weight to do so.

No. His potential on the DL is way too good to pass up.Inside on the OL is my prediction. He could be an amazing OG.
I think we end up with four DL when all is said and done. Crawford and Carter DE's , Deyo DT, and Graves DE/DT. I'm pretty down with these four. FWIW, I saw Carter playing PF in the Minnesota BB championship game. He's all of 6-6, but is in really great shape and probably does weigh 215/220. Has the frame to add more pounds in the Hawk weight room. 😎❤️🏈Crawford and Graves are two great gets and they are helping with recruiting. DE will be a strength going forward with all the young ones in the system. Actually I think Graves is a dt.

He means we are late to offer on another prospect again.Wdym?
Gotcha. Sucks, but it is what it is.He means we are late to offer on another prospect again.
Never count Parker out.Gotcha. Sucks, but it is what it is.
Are we supposed to offer everyone first before they get other offers?Gotcha. Sucks, but it is what it is.

It's the caveat of Iowa's approach to recruiting. I doubt it was a reflection of the Hawks slow-playing the young man ... the issue likely related to COVID and the corresponding latency in acquiring the sort of info they want to have before they're comfortable to offer.Gotcha. Sucks, but it is what it is.
I’m not really, but nice to hear Crawford is trying to help with the recruiting.Don't hold your breath on Orange.

I realize their approach. It has drawbacks. And they are one of the most stingy in the country and could afford to give out more that they do. And no it doesn’t always mean something just because they offerYou have to realize that part of how Iowa attempts to "brand" it's recruiting approach ... is that when the Hawks offer you ... they are genuinely serious. Folks who throw out offers ... like dandelion tufts to the breeze ... how much does it truly "mean" when the offer you're given isn't "commitable?" The Hawks can and do leverage that side of their approach.
Well there's a pretty easy answer to that don't you think? When has Iowa been looking for a head coach since they have established all that job security? We've only hired ONE new HC since 1979! Haven't been too many chances have there???I'll never quite understand why job security alone at UI isn't enough to lure a big name here.
I don't remember Kirk Ferentz being a big name at the time. With that said, this statement wasn't only about football.Well there's a pretty easy answer to that don't you think? He wasn't but neither was Bob Stoops at the time really. Terry Allen, Oh HELL NO! I think Haydens choice would have been Bobby Elliott, if he had been well. Hayden also didn't have the number of top 10 finishes that KF has, as well as another 21 years worth of continuity. We'll see when KF retires I guess. As for Hoops, the job security alone isn't enough to lure a BIG name coach unless he feels he'll have the tools to win big, and Iowa has not done that consistently quite obviously. In football at least the hawks have been a top 10 to 20 team often enough, that you could see the possibilitiesI don't remember Kirk Ferentz being a big name at the time. Bob Stoops at the time was a big name. He was coming off of time with Spurrier winning the championship in 97. I'm not upset at all with Ferentz. It’s official now. Iowa needs to getSounds like McLaughlin is about to commit to ISU.
