Fran should have sat Uthoff for a lot of the first half. He was a deer in the headlights. He's rattled.
The worst in d1. We are lucky to get a shot sometimes. Which I don't understand because our ob plays are great.
Refereeing is fine. Complaining about the refs is a loser attitude.
Our seniors are playing like crap and we're only down a couple baskets. If they wake up in the 2nd we should beat these guys. But Woody, MG and the Ute are getting owned out there.

Need to stay aggressive on offense and drive. They have lazy interior defense and will foul. We also need to up our intensity on defense, should have more turnovers. And we better hit a couple of threes.

The refs were fine. Find a different excuse, like say Uthoff forcing terrible shots and not playing any defense perhaps?
Down 6 at half on the road when the offense wasn't great. Defense was bad. Iowa has got a run in them in the second half. Let's see how Maryland responds to Iowa's run. Obviously Iowa needs more out of Uthoff on the offensive end but his defense has been poor too. Need Gesell to distribute more then he has been in this game. He needs to try and help to get Jok and Uthoff going instead of looking for his shot. Defense has to get a lot better in the second half for Iowa. Everything is coming way too easy for Maryland. There just hoping Maryland misses shots at this point.

Unless they're the literal reason you lose (i.e. 5th down, poor reversed calls aka pick one, etc)........ya know.
He means at end of half/last shot situations, and I'm inclined to agree that Iowa may literally be the worst in division 1 in that category.
Uthoff needs to continue taking it to the rim. Hey if they need to foul and he earns his way at the line, then so be it
24 straight home games. No Big Ten team has won at Maryland since they joined the Big Ten.
That's just it, it would be even worse for Maryland if the refs were consistent. And that was a charge.
Yup. That was the same bullsh** that got him 2 pts in the 2nd half against ISU. Has little to do with the defense played on when he settles for that shot. If it's not there, kick and pop out or move to get open somewhere else.
Needs to let the offense come back to him first in order to get out of the funk.
Except for the fact that it isn't true. The refs were fine and in no way contributed to Iowa being down in the first half. Stop whining and blaming refs for Iowa's poor play.
Ha. Great comeback. Keep blaming the refs. Much easier to do that then figure out what we need to do to improve. That's why it's a 'loser attitude'. Losers complain about the refs and don't change. It's easy just to blame someone else and believe in the conspiracy theories that the refs are out to get you. Winners know that refereeing is fickle and over the long haul has very little impact on overall long term success. But keep thinking its' the refs that are our opponent. Whatever makes you feel good.
Completely agree. The whole team could do this as well. A lot of touch fouls on drives in this game.
It did that game when we hosted an NIT game and real fans got good tickets instead of rich A holes who sat on their fat arses and knitted instead of cheering.

1) Both IA and MD realize MD outplayed Hawks and deep down both know it will be replicated in the 2nd half
2) Both IA and MD realize it's only 6 point difference, MD gave IA some hard punches, both Uthoff & Jok have combined for next to nothing on the offensive end and that's not going to happen to that degree in the second half.
I'm going back and forth right now. Not sure where to go with this one.

I think Utohiff has a fadeaway, but even when you do that you have to set your feet and not completely fall back. I'd like to see Uthoff drive more from the outside and look for fouls. He needs to stay aggressive. And Peta needs to find his 3 stroke.

I doubt Maryland can duplicate 56% shooting (I expect that 1-2-2 press the second half), and I doubt Iowa will duplicate the sloppy offensive play.

Btw, all you people who said this week that Sulaimon wouldn't be a big factor........you're all wrong. (Sorry, I wanted to be nice here even though I didn't have to be.)
He won't be a factor if we do a better job of identifying him and not letting him pull a MSU/Wisconsin drain 3s from wherever even with a hand in the face....
