*****Official Northern Iowa @ IOWA Game Thread*****

The nice guy shit is all great, but the people voting aren’t watching this game. They vote on the final score.
Wth
who gives a shit what someone thinks that doesn't even bother to watch?
especially someone who can't see 38-0 after 3 and then figure out what happened in the 4th!

It’s called rankings, it makes a big freaking difference. If you aren’t aware of this you are clueless.
The point is the voters aren’t watching the game, you know it was 38-0, I know it was. They aren’t going to know that. Hello

The ONLY ranking worth a damn are CFP! If you aren't aware of this, then you are clueless :). Do you think those voters don't watch games? hmmm...

Do you think getting play for the backups is not important? Injuries are about the only guarantee in this sport!

It doesn’t matter. In 2015 Iowa played a ton of close games, beat only one ranked team in Wisconsin, and was only one defensive stand away from the CFP. The voters kept moving Iowa up the polls because Iowa just kept on winning. Heck, 2009 was almost the same blueprint except Iowa was ranked to start the season (#22) beat one ranked team at PSU, ton of close games, and climbed to #8 in the polls before the NW game and the Stanzi injury.

People don't mention 2015 was an easier in. the little 12 screwed themselves by not having a title game and the b1g ooc helped crush the pac 12s chances. Add in a non factoring ND team and it was pretty easy.
Won't always be that easy. Especially for a team in the west that plays rutgers every year.

Poll rankings mean squat to Iowa. They have exactly one chance to reach the playoffs: win all 13 games. If they don't, their bowl assignment will.come down to their conference standing, not their poll ranking. Whether or not they gave up 14 points to UNI after the game was decided is completely inconsequential. It was a rare opportunity to get a lot of twos and threes playing time. It was the most productive tune-up.game I have seen from the Hawks in a long time.

Not true bro, ranking plays a role in bowl game selection also.
It is also factored into the cfp ranking.

So no 12-1 teams etc ever get in huh? Yes, Iowa could to if they started out ranked higher.

Yes. 12-1 teams do get in the playoffs. Iowa is not one of them. Alabama does because the media knows that every year they have the best talent of every team in the nation. Iowa does not start out with the same recognition and expectations Alabama does and rightfully so. They could have scored 100 on UNI and it would not have improved their bowl standing. Now, if Iowa was to lose a regular season BiG game then beat OSU in the championship game, there might be a controversy. At that point, it is going to come down to what the other P5 schools have going on. And beating UNI by 50 vs beating them by 24 will have no effect on the decision.

$ and previous bowls games probably play a much bigger factor
not to mention the committee decide more than just the cfp games
the ap and coaches poll had nothing to do with iowa going to the rose bowl......

so, like I said I don't really care what the press or coaches think, they can kiss my a$$ :)
