Hi, my name is Peacock.Watched it yesterday. Gotta get the full bang out of my month of Peacock.
I voted 3 stars. It was okay but not great. Not bad enough to turn it off but I don’t need to see it again.

Beach sex during Saving Private Ryan crippled meThis is a 5, but it is not a perfect 5.
There's a lot of Nolan self-indulgent sh** in the movie, and while we all like boobies (well, most of us.....), at least one of the nude scenes was just gratuitous for the sake of it, and virtually unnecessary, and really just out of place in the context of the scene it took place in.
For example, in the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan, you're seeing the horrors of war, and Tom Hanks sees a guy on fire and then the camera cuts as the tank explodes, and then say he looks to his left and sees two people having sex on the beach......it was that jarring in the context of the scene.
Other than that and Hans Zimmer falling in love lately with taking lots of droning noises and calling it a movie score in his movies lately, including Dune.............it was a 5.
Fwiw, here's how I rank it:

I’m pretty sure you accidentally watched Saving Ryan’s Privates.Beach sex during Saving Private Ryan crippled me
Rated it one star because I haven't watched it yet.
Did you give it a 1 because the scale was only 1-5?I finally watched it. Keeping my rating the same.
Barbie was a much better cinematic experience. Kudos to the Oppenhiemer marketing team to latching on to "Barbenhiemer" and riding that coattail, bc Barbie really carried the two.I loved KOTFM and really really like Oppenheimer and I enjoyed Barbie (especially because some Sound of Freedom fan paid for me to see it).
The language of the Angel Ferrera speech could have been more colloquial otherwise 9.5/10Barbie was a much better cinematic experience. Kudos to the Oppenhiemer marketing team to latching on to "Barbenhiemer" and riding that coattail, bc Barbie really carried the two.

I enjoyed both for different reasons - admittedly did not see Barbie (seeing it as a single with a room full of girls would have been weird) in theatre.Barbie was a much better cinematic experience. Interesting, your mom said the same thing about meI watched it over the weekend. Part of me feels like I endured it. Wonderful movie in every way, but 45 minutes too long.
Were you startled awake by all the excessively loud background noise/music/"train-sound" spamming at any point?.................OVERRATED
I LOVE WWII era movies and really any movies that are historically based. This movie was decent, but I fell asleep MULTIPLE times while watching this snoozefest. It's good, but not deserving of all the praise.
Zero motivation to ever watch again.
I liked Oppenheimer but doubt I'll ever watch it start to finish again. Off the top of my head, I thought Killers of the Flower Moon, Godzilla, Poor Things & Late Night w the Devil were all better.Godzilla Minus One was the best movie in 2023.
There I said it.....
watching now. i'd give it 4 stars. i can't shake the feeling i'm watching david byrne of talking heads.
I rated it a 5 and I have studied a lot of physics and science so I am into this type of stuff.
A fair number of posts on this thread thought the movie was too long or they didnt like it. Well the A bomb project was a Moon Shot type of project. It was of utmost importance and a super huge accomplishment of humans in a few short years. You cant tell this story in 2 hours.
And actually the PBS and British version in the 1980's starring Sam Waterson on Masterpiece was 6 or 7 episodes of an hour or more each. It went into the science somewhat deeper than this movie and also into the lives of the people. It was an excellent series and I highly recommend it to those who are interested in this man and the topic.
Never saw Late Night, but the synopsis and previews made it look interesting.I liked Oppenheimer but doubt I'll ever watch it start to finish again. Off the top of my head, I thought Killers of the Flower Moon, Godzilla, Poor Things & Late Night w the Devil were all better.
At age 77, I get bored easily when watching movies and a regular 1 1/2 to 2 hour film requires my breaking it down into about three segments. My attention span is completely shot to hell and Three hours is daunting. To make matters worse, Oppenheimer is largely about government and the Federal Bureaucracy.
However, I watched Oppenheimer in one sitting. I could not stop watching.
It is a fabulous movie.
I loved it, but agree it dragged just a bit long in parts. The ending was perfect in my opinion. When Einstein's face just drops when Oppenheimer says, "I believe we did." No one said a single word leaving the theater, and I drove home with the radio off.
We owe it all to one guy on a Soviet submarine in 1962.Just haunting. We are all lucky to be alive on this planet.
If you ever besmirch Marty like that again, I will outrun every Buford T Justice wannabe between here and Fort Dodge just to smack you. Shame on you. Marty is a saintNever saw Late Night, but the synopsis and previews made it look interesting.
KotFM is Oscar bait and therefore disqualified in my eyes, and Poor Things was Emma Stone porn nttawwt because I certainly didn't avert my eyes............
That leaves Godzilla Minus One as king of the movies in 2023.
People: "But what about Barb-"
New mods just going to let Monkey libel Scorsese like that. Unreal what has happened to this place
Watch it again.I was really looking forward to watching this but I have to say I was underwhelmed. Maybe my expectations were too high.
Came away thinking it was good but not something I'd rewatch which is my barometer for a movie. That and I watched it over the course of two nights.
Kind of like The English Patient in that regard...lot of hype, awards, but meh.
I knew the story very well and the names of many of the scientists but once again Director Nolan used too loud of music and sound effects to make it so you couldnt hear the names of the people being introduced and some of the dialog.I gave it a 3. From all the awards, I thought it would be better. It was too long and really dragged at times. Too many characters and sometimes confusing as to who was who. Definitely worth seeing and good but I don’t think I would watch it again.
