Our nationwide Police force is nearly beyond reform

Mother or ex-girlfriend of someone with even a low level charge, witness multiple crimes and you will find yourself in the crosshairs of a specialized harassment unit of the Pasco County sheriff's office. The sheriff was appointed, as has become tradition in many Florida counties who like to pick their leader rather than allowing voters to decide. This sheriff was selected by one of the most soulless ghouls on the planet, former Gov Rick Scott.

Fairfax PD arresting people for filming, claiming the camera is a weapon. Blue line gang members really don't like transparency.

In Nov 2021, Florida police sergeant attempts to attack handcuffed suspect with pepper spray and then is restrained by a rookie female officer. The sergeant then proceeds to attack and choke the rookie officer.

He was demoted several months later

Nine months later, he was finally arrested for battery on a police officer. Of course, he remains on the payroll. BAU

City of Miami officer radios in asking why Dade County police cars are passing him at 70 mph on NW 7th Ave. The response is that Dade County had an officer down. The Miami officer replied to let the county know that there would be more officers down if they kept passing him at 70 mph. A minute later his Lieutenant scolded him over the radio. Of course, the officer is likely to face little to no consequences for this.

One of the dirtiest police officers in the country was finally fired today. He has been a terror in Miami for far too long.

Mental health. I honestly believe that's the biggest issue facing policing today. I suspect there are a lot of LEOs suffering from PTSD, anxiety, depression, etc. that aren't getting the help they need.

On top of that, our current culture has a very antagonistic view of what should be deemed an honorable profession. In addition to weeding out the Derek Chauvins of the world, police officers need better support and better pay.
More support, yes! Better pay, no! Just like with teachers, higher compensation does solve the problem.

Keep criminals behind bars and keep disruptive students and parents out of our schools. D's don't seem to want criminals behind bars and they don't want to kick disruptive students out of school. At least the D candidates running for state legislative positions in my district don't. I have spoken to both of them on multiple occasions.

Now, I am all in favor of higher compensation once these problems are solved (If they paying entity is fiscally strong).

“The Los Angeles Police Department officer who was killed during a training exercise, in what officials called a "tragic accident," was allegedly targeted for investigating a gang rape by fellow officers, according to his family.

LAPD officer Houston Tipping's mother has filed a wrongful death claim against the city. Lawyer Bradley Gage told NPR that the 32-year-old was deliberately assaulted after submitting reports concerning a female victim who claims she was raped by four LAPD officers, including one who was part of the training during which Tipping was killed.

"They used that training as a cover to kill him in retaliation for his whistleblowing activity," Gage said.

The department did not respond to NPR's request for comment regarding Gage's claims about the incident or the alleged sexual assault.

Gage disputes the official account, arguing that Tipping was beaten by several officers who "repeatedly struck [him] in the head and body severely enough that he bled, required stitches, suffered a lacerated liver and three broken ribs." He said UCLA medical experts who have reviewed Tipping's autopsy report concluded that the officer's injuries do not square with the department's version of events.

"If it happened the way they say it happened, how did he end up with six staples in his head and a lacerated liver?" Gage asked.”

There are approximately 800,000 police officers in this country. In a 2018 study it was reveled 61.5 million Americans had a police encounter of some sort. I wonder if the majority of those encounters were positive or negative.

Probably depends in large part on where you live and what you look like.

All of that for making too wide of a right turn on an empty residential street. Constant escalation from these GED warriors with 6 months of training.
