Penn St QB Beau Pribula has Committed to Missouri after Visiting IOWA Wed, Dec 18. Will Iowa add a 6th QB to the Roster?

Thought scholarships were year to year. Colorado sent some packing when Deon got there. Have things changed?
Nope, not at all, and he was only able to get away with it year 1. He may suggest they will never see the field, and leaving is their choice.

Bring in the best you can … Sullivan is not going to elevate Iowa to the next level in passing (as Tim has clearly stated - our passing is terrible). It’s officially a “business” now playing major college athletics…. If feelings get hurt … and guys leave etc … sadly … this is where we are at. Finally we are weeding out BF’s huge swing and misses … So let’s let Tim bring in as many QBs as he wants as it will all settle out and at least 3 of the guys will be gone any way before their career comes to a close….

Another thing: I wonder what Hank is thinking. He officially signed yesterday.

He was told that they were going to pursue another QB so it isnt a surprise. And they absolutely should be….it wouldnt surprise me if they carried 6 QBs but if we sign another one and a current QB leaves, so be it

Not here to argue just trying to make the point that I think we sit ok if we don't add another QB. Lester has said publicly that he loves the portal and I think enjoys dipping his hand in it. This Penn State QB becoming available I think came as a surprise. Lester going after him doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't feel happy with what he has. He will pursue the opportunity and take things from there.
We dont sit ok at QB. We need to bring in a very capable QB that can be the starter

For these athletes it's not always about the biggest pay check,.. go after him.
This will be really interesting to watch over the years. I wonder how many players will actually be losing $ in the long run by chasing NIL paychecks by transferring every 1-2 years and losing out on good, consistent coaching and development? There won't be any way to prove it, but it makes sense that there will be a lot of players giving up potential NFL careers by selling-out to the highest NIL bidder.

Per cutting players. I thought the B1G had a no cut policy, but it wasn't an NCAA policy. And with an extra 20 scholarships available if you have the money, they can add several QBs and not have to Crean anyone.

Esp as the landscape evolves into a per-school cap (and potential becoming employees, maybe unionizing/bargaining). The wild west days only last so long. Consistently feeding guys into the NFL will remain the major tell.

They are not adding 20 scholarships. To your point, they are also not taking any scholarships away. It’s walk ons that are for the most part, being axed.

It’s been discussed ad nauseam, but it seems actually adding scholarships, even though approved my the NCAA, will not be happening for a number of reasons.

Good point, but they also have no guarantees regarding the NFL. Bird in the hand?

Stratton doesn't pass the eye test. I like Sully, but not sure he is the guy. Hank Brown I like, need to see him play. If we get Pribula I dont care who transfers out because of it. Guy seems like a bigger Trace McSorley.

I guess i don’t see the offensive struggles of the past to be as big of an obstacle as others do. It seems like an opportunity to sell a qb that he can be the one to change all that. The struggles were under the old OC and his offense, and that is all being replaced. We had a pretty significant jump last year in ppg while still missing the pieces we need to take the next step. You are the missing piece to that next step and we are putting together an rpo offense that is tailored to your abilities.

Come be the QB to turn it around.

That said, it’ll be tough to be out Cignetti.
