when he’s had a good qb (banks, tate, stanzi, beathard, even stanley) kf has not been shy about throwing. the last 3 years have skewed things a lot
Exactly. And we have seen how that turned out. Lester is a quarterback and knows what he's looking for.
I think his only point was that the other suitors for Pribula aren't at that level.

To my knowledge, they are not recruiting the same portal QB Iowa is. If that changes, then yes, they are indeed trying to beat Oregon.
Sure was and we might have won that game if he didn't get hurt as such he still has something to prove.

This question got asked earlier in the thread but apparently no one has any info. If we sign Pribula or another portal QB that makes one of our QBs the odd man out as we won't carry 6 with the new roster limit.
Fitzgerald seems like a good get whether he stays at QB to add depth or maybe sees the field at another position. I would also add that his dad seems to have a good relationship with the coaching staff which can only help us in the Chicago suburbs where we recruit heavily.

I thought so too. But this goes back to the question you asked to start the thread. Pribula or another portal QB makes 6 QBs. Lester already wants to add 2 more roster slots for WRs. With the coming 105 man roster limit I don't see any way we carry more than 5 QBs. Something has to give if we want to sign another portal QB. Fitzgerald seems like a guy you want to keep in the program.

At the end of the day, scholarship numbers aren’t dropping, so any cuts are going to be walk ons outside the top 20 walk ons who were never playing anyway.
The part I really don’t like is so many kids who just wanted to put on that uniform will never get to do it.😔

Good point on the scholarship numbers. With the new roster limit you still have to manage roster distribution by position. So do you want to carry 6 QBs with one of them getting one of the walk on slots? Roster management becomes crucial with these new changes coming.
There are lots of issues with Amazon. That doesn’t mean it isn’t unbelievably convenient, but oof…there are issues.

Somewhere somebody wrote that Brad, the CEO of SWARM, was working on Brian Thompson to become a major donor to SWARM. Thompson, who grew up on an Iowa farm and was an Iowa grad, was making $10M/year as CEO at United Healthcare. He was murdered earlier this month, of course.
I give the nod to Amazon, but Walmart is a close second.

Might be different if Iowa never got any QB portal interest before Lester. But again, Cade signed. And he was much more sought after than Pribula

Eliot said based on the film he saw, Pribula can really sling it & put the ball in tight windows. Eliot said if Iowa does not land Pribula, they will go after someone else.
What Hank Brown cost and what Pribula will cost Eliot said he doesn't know.

So your idea is not to recruit any QB or receiver because we won't get them anyway. Glad you're not on the Hawkeye staff.

Of course not. Unlike you, I know what a win looks like. Recruiting Caitlin Clark wasn't a win. The WIN was landing Caitlin Clark.
My point was that just getting someone on campus is not a HUGE win. It’s simply a necessary step in a process. Unless it results in an actual signing it has no positive impact on the team come next fall. The huge win in this case would be landing Pribula. Lester knows that as well as I do, but if it makes you feel better you should send him a note of congratulations today on getting him to show up at all. I'm sure he'll get a kick out of you.

I doubt any team in P4 carries 6 QB's, including Iowa. I think even 5 is a reach with the new roster limitations. I'm not sure that Shaggy or Fitzgerald survives.
At this point in the process if I'm Shaggy or Fitzgerald I'm either nervous or already know that I no longer have a spot on the team.
Honestly, if we get Pribula, Brendan Sullivan could easily be gone as well (as others have noted.)
We could be looking at the possibility that the top three QBs on next year's depth chart are all guys not on the current roster. (Pribula, Brown, J. Sullivan).
That's absolutely possible if they landed Pribula, but I don't believe Sullivan would be getting pushed out. More likely it would be his decision to leave, but he did come to Iowa this year knowing that Cade was the presumptive starter, so who knows.
