Real Woods in the portal? Mineo inkling Penn State

I don’t see why a private contract would be required to be made public.

Any particular reporting requirement could vary by state, as state law might dictate, and further vary by conference or university.

To satisfy compliance, I imagine all that would be needed is a signed checklist as an affidavit that all university requirements have been met, which would be submitted to the university's athletic compliance office. I suppose those offices could perform random or for cause audits of further details, as desired or required.
Requiring it to be public would ensure the deals are on the up and up across the board. I'm guessing based on your response the answer is no. As you've stated the requirements can vary by state/school/conference.

If it's true that Cael was frustrated with PSU's compliance department on this front last year for not allowing certain things to go through, what stops the athlete from taking that offer to another school whose compliance department is less strict.

It ensures everyone knows exactly what the athlete is being paid for and that it isn't just a workaround - pay for play

Ben Askren says he heard a rumor that PSU offered Woods 100k in NIL/NLWC money. That sounds like an insane amount but who knows.
The school nor anyone associated with it are allowed to offer anything but part of 9.9.

Regardless of your premise, nothing stops a student athlete from seeking the deal they perceive as most advantageous. That evaluation is for them to make. If the bottom line is the most money for the least work, so be it.

I think it is known that the PA state legislature passed conditions for its state funded schools that were more stringent than the minimum NCAA requirements.

I think it would be reasonable for Cael to point out such laws might place PSU at a disadvantage. If anything, all advocates for PSU student athletes and athletics may have wished its Athletic Director had been more actively engaged with the PA state legislature to more effectively lobby against these additional restrictions or, as a minimum, to be in the best position to address NILs with PSU student athletes, even if multiple contingency plans were required.

During recruiting, coaches and athletes look at the current roster and discuss long term plans. I am pretty sure there are no discussions about "you can potentially be replaced next year by someone not yet available that we think is better". Developing into a champion, not a benchwarmer. Do high end recruits no live up? Sure, but no coaches cut their losses in year 1 or 2. Most normal schools wouldn't recruit over a guy that was as highly regarded as Beard. At some point that has to bite Cael in the *ss. Single year graduate transfers won't really matter if they are bumping someone with more than one year of eligibility.

I get it, NLWC has a lot going on in and post college. If nobody badmouths the process, they will BAU.
When is this going to bite him in the a$$? I’m sure there are a few top athletes who are put off by the practice of recruiting over a starter. However, he’s been doing it for over a decade now. With phenomenal results.

Why would the practice suddenly cause the team wheels to fall off?

Exactly. In fact Nick Lee donates to NLWC. As a qualified athlete, he can train at the NLWC, or other RTCs, without being a resident athlete of the club.

As Real Woods graduated, he could theoreticallly join the NLWC as a resident athlete with a stipend, and not even complete for PSU.

Assertions without evidence have been made on HR in the past that top recruits are "promised" or "teased" the potential of NLWC resident status after using up their PSU eligibility.
Wait WHAT!?!?!? Nick Lee, The 141 from F*** st "donates to the nlwc"???? PLEASE someone, anyone tell me about this? A college Wrestler, is so well to do, that he gives $$$$ to a wrestling club!!! This is a NEW one even for the F*** team!

I mean honestly, how in the good LORDS name is this possible? All the college athletes I knew, always had to find ways to get a few bucks. Working at the local stores, waiting tables, cleaning the food hall, joining the ROTC. Yet in good 'ol F*** land, you not only do not worry about this kinda BS.

You go out and try and figure out what to do with your EXTRA CASH!!! Guess he got a nice 100K+ deal too.

Wait WHAT!?!?!?
A modest donation a la Mark 12: 41–44 (since you invoked the good Lord).

I suspect an act demonstrative of gratitude, but you are free to suspect the worst.

I give you an A+ for uninformed overreaction.

Here's the current donor list. You might want to extend your conclusions to his two brothers who are also listed.

I suppose their parents could've donated in their names, even if I don't believe that's the case.

you can't get dumber.

Actually this is a good hypothetical, if Gable Steveson was Coming back for another year and said he is going to either Penn State or Iowa, what would happen.
Would Carl say yes and bring him in to the Penn State team over the top of Kirk? Would TNT say yes and bring him in over the top of Tony?
We all know the answers.
THIS says it all!!!

You brought up he donates. Now it is a modest amount? Does your list give numbers? I still find it very odd a current wrestler gives money to his teams club!

You are an idiot so F off!
Every time I think that he raises the bar. And oddly enough I think that a lot.

This is “correct”. WINK
Now I see why you get called out all the time and no one likes you!

The public list on the website does not. Donors receive a mailing. That mailing indicates donation level via footnotes. Yes, I have that mailing and my statement is accurate.

Honestly will you just shut up with this. You’re making everyone here look like a dumb***. You’re freaking crazy man. Cael is a boogeyman to you. Let it go. If something crazy and illegal was going on with Penn state, somebody would have leaked it by now. If the “recruited over” athletes had a problem with it, they would have left by now. Iowa has their own issues that they need to solve themselves. How about we talk about those instead of obsessing over what “wrong” things Penn state is doing.

smalls I disagree. I think iornburd gets dumber every day. I believe he will be more dumb tomorrow. I believe he will post and prove me right.
uncle jim, wow what a girl, uh guy or whatever you claim to be!

REALLY, hmmm, wonder if there are ANY cases where things might be happening, and you would think. GEE that can't be!?!?! Someone would say something!!! No one would cover it up? If I could just find and point to an incident that took place, preferably in PA and even better if at at F*** state, and in the athletic program.......hmmmm.

If I just had one thing that took down a coach as great as the thee great Fale in happy land. I think I could make my case! I want you to help me out with this. Please since you are such a smart A** ER I mean guy. Can you look back for me and see if anything took place out of the ordinary in your great/honest/follow the rules to the letter athletic dept.

I'll see if I can locate anything from other schools. Hmmm, Maybe that other football program down in Texas. I don't thing anything ever happened in Basketball, NOOOOO

^^^^^^^
Imagine starting your day off like this. What a miserable existence

I agree. But just pointing out that on paper, this is their best recruiting class ever. And it coincides with getting new facilities recently. It’s not the be all but I’m sure it helped. I hope we get a recruiting class like that. Don’t care if it’s the new facilities that induce it or the janitor or moriah’s stare.

It hasn't and it won't unless something surfaces that shows promises made and promises broken. So you are right. The top P4P kids are at little risk unless they totally washout.

And now the portal gives them someplace to immediately land and compete again.

I can’t imagine Karl would leave two holes in his line up that scored a total of about 7 points in NCAA tourney COMBINED over five years without attempting to trade up.

Plus he is scaring off any new women coming here to learn about wrestling. Or are they going to have a different forum for them. I say the mods should just eighty-six him now.
