We'll see. Scored 25 points in the first have and 44 in the second. Maybe Jan and the staff figured a few things out at the half....Looks like this is a just figure out to win kinda game. If Olsen doesn’t play against BYU, we will lose.

She just isn't ready having just been cleared about 10 days ago, and everyone knows it, including her unfortunately. I think she'll be really good, but we'll have a bunch of mistakes to live with if she has to play much this season.I’m bullish on Guyton’s future, but her on-ball defense today was really, really bad. Not unexpected for a frosh, but she needs to step up that area of her game.
This game was an excellent learning tool , especially for the young uns. Blowing out teams doesn't show them where they are in the same way. Best case scenario for them. Get the W and learn a lot....An ugly win >>> ugly loss
I really doubt we'll see her until at least next Saturday, but we'll see....hopefully Lucy is good for tomorrow or we are in trouble
One of the podcasts said she's been having some kind of leg issue as well. Makes sense, since her shot has deserted her recently..I missed the first half, is there a reason Mallegni didn’t get more minutes?
Kylie is not a shooter either, at least not consistently. 2 for 5 one game and she'll go 4 or 5 games and not make one.
No. It had to have been earlier in the day during their morning shoot around. Someone posted earlier today about a rumor of her being injured. The court must be raised and she tripped off the court and caught her leg on the edge. Jan said they were lucky that one of the team doctors was there, and they attended to her right away. Edit: Upstream posted the rumor on post #10 on this thread that Olsen had been injured. His post was at 4:51pm. I would still imagine it happened earlier in the day if it was already out there..When did Olsen actually get hurt? My thinking is that if it was relatively close to game time then the team was caught off guard. An additional 24 hours can help a lot in getting your mindset right for playing without a key piece.
I've noticed that too. She often turns at the hip sideways instead of going straight up to the basket. It basically makes her shorter when she shoots at the rim.Heiden had a nice score on a pass from Guyton and 2 big fts.. footwork a little awkward.. could use a dribble(or less steps) seems like she’s been called for a travel, looked like she has travel, or thrown up a shot from a weird angle a lot.
I think its way more then an opinion. Go back and look at her shooting % from three in her career at Iowa. She's very streaky. I've listened to several podcasts, and everyone of them said the same thing. You just never know what your going to get from her from one game to the next on offense.
We should be better once Lucy gets back and now Guyton being available.Every team we play should press us the rest of the year. My god.
Exactly, AOG has been a wonderful surprise but she isn't going to be able to carry the team. The shooting needs to get better. It probably starts with taking solid confident shots within the offense. There are also too many occasions where they drive and just chuck up a bad attempt maybe hoping for a foul or over pass in tight space turning it over. AOG, Stuelke and Lucy have been the only consistent performers.Who thought Olsen wasn't really important? Have been saying since the season started we were going to struggle against zones because NO one on this team has been consistent shooting from three. If this continues, and McCabe/Kylie, Syd and Mallegni don't find the range we're going to struggle against good teams, especially if they pack the lane...
Careful........you might start to sound like those "pessimistic haters" that everyone cries about when they criticize players and coaches on the football board for providing essentially the exact same cririque about a female basketball player.I think its way more then an opinion. Not really. I'm not hating on the girl. I'm looking at factual evidence of her career at Iowa. We discussed this pre season. People said she would take a major step forward with her increased minutes this season. I said I wasn't sure she would be markedly improved in her 4th or 5th year in college. She plays hard, especially on defense. On offense she is often out of control. (I do think she's gotten a bit better on that). As for her shooting, it is what it is at this point, inconsistent. In the same way I really like Hanna as a player for what she gives the team. Still there are folks who want to see more of her as a mid range and three point shooter. At this point I just don't see that happening. She doesn't have a good form repeatable shot. You can see that even when she shoots free throws. The fact that she or Kylie can make an occasional jump shot doesn't make them good shooters. And we are in dire need of that on this team. Would I live to see Kylie all of a sudden become a 40% three point shooter? Absolutely. Do I see that happening? No I don't......Careful........you might start to sound like those "pessimistic haters" that everyone cries about when they criticize players and coaches on the football board for providing essentially the exact same cririque about a female basketball player.

Really? Am I making up lies or false narratives about players or coaches? Saying their only here to bilk the system for the $$. Am I making stupid claims like Jan is only playing Kylie or Hannah because they have their "union cards", or that she has better players on the bench? I'm not seeing the connection to some of the nonsense that gets posted on the football forum..The labeled "football board pessimistic haters":

If I went through life like some of those other cats do, I’d stick my head in an oven
See… That’s ****ing awesome. Carry-on, good sir carry-on and happy Thanksgiving by the way.But would you turn the oven on?............
Kylie dribbled into some obvious problems just last night. The worst was near the baseline. Went right, directly into a turnover, when the defender gave her the whole left side of the court.Meh…. That’s a major leap. They’re shitty, you know they’re shitty. They are past pessimistic. They are grown ass men, bitching incessantly and I know you love the devils advocate Lane but come on.
As for Kylie, his assessment is spot on, although I probably consider what she does for the team a little higher on the skill level than @kceasthawk does. For me, right now l, she’s the third most important player on the team. I believe eventually Affolter will pass her by, but to me every aspect of her game, including the “out of control part” has improved greatly. With the exception of her shooting and that’s gonna be what it is already….
I do not remember her dribbling into trouble so far this year like she often did last year

I think the oddest thing with her game is probably the consistent air-balls. She can hit 3s, but when she misses they often don't even hit the rim. It's a bizarre range of hit or miss.
That said, seemed like Feuerbach was the only one that came into the game knowing someone had to step up to cover for Olsen's scoring. She was trying to make some things happen, and I didn't see that intensity from the other vets. It's what I really expect from Affolter and Stuelke, so hopefully the Rhode Island game turns on some lights.
I was probably staring at a big black box at that time 😜
