*****Richmond vs Iowa Game Thread*****

That couldn't have gone much worse.

The upside is that we have to shoot better in the second half. Maybe they'll settle down in the second half...

1-13 from three, 10-33 from the field. Iowa would be losing to a 16 seed right now. The only reason why Iowa is only losing by 1 is because Richmond is shooting like crap and can’t rebound.

This KeyBank Center venue sucks. You can tell when the ball hits the rim on both ends. Iowa players slipped at least three times on their offensive end. Something’s not right.

Get the win today and beat Providence Saturday, then GTF out of there.
The rim sounds very loose, which always helps the shooter....something weird is going on.

oh you mean like way after the ball was already released......and that little touch foul...they going to call that and let Iowa get beat on....whatever it was a horse shit call period!
Yeah you can’t hit the arm after the ball is released. It was the right call

Thinkin back, aren't tight rims and overinflated ball kind of a trademark of the NCAA tourney?

rightfully so….but halftime national pundits pooping all over us.

Wish I could make a joke that Iowa was just 'playing dead' in that 1st half and setting up Providence on Saturday, and Chicago opponents next week, but man that was just an absolutely ugly half. Only thing they did fairly well was rebounding. (and thank God they are undefeated [so far] in games that they win the rebounding battle)

Fran better be peeling the paint off the locker room walls with fire, to wake his squad up.

Feels like one where Richmond will hit back to back threes around the 5 minute mark and completely take the wind out of the sails.

But, but, but....we won the Big 10 Tourney. Richmond is trash....Gonzaga or AZ would be up by 50 right now. Fran looks to be back in his comfort zone as a Not Ready For Prime Time Player.
Fran?

Iowa is 1-13 from 3. That’s the story, not coaching. Geez, you guys are really reaching here

Yep can't get any tempo going.
Don't know if it's jitters or Richmond's defense
I’ve noticed richmond doesn’t even attempt to offensive rebound. Get back and set up the D to slow us down and its working so far. We need to force some turnovers

They are not going to let Keegan and Bohannon beat them. They are making the rest of the guys make plays and it is not happening.

Iowa energy/intensity level looks very similar to Rutgers, but at leats Rutgers was playing a decent team. Iowa looks like they are scared sh******.

So the play before half was for Connor to shoot a deep 3? Lol

I doubt it....he got the ball and not much time and he probably was wondering if he still had a hot hand unlike his teammates....and he didn't.

PMAC and JBO played the worse. Jbo falls twice, bricks two wide open shots. PMac shot selections gets worse he longer he plays...the one tie he is 4 feet from the basket and facing straight up and 2 seconds on shot clock, he throws it out to a guarded JBO.

Too bad Sandfort rushed his 1st shot and got off to bad start. Team really needed his 3pt shooting today.

Kris of course is favororite guy for refs to call fouls on. Neutred by the refs.

They better create some turnovers in 2nd half or this will go down as Epic loss, most embarrassing loss
of all time.

In contemporary basketball, it's common to see a team--a good team--score in the 20s in one half and the 40s or 50s the next. This first half today is just one more of hundreds of examples.

Michigan was down by 15 at one time today and won by 12.

Richmond's defense has been nothing great, certainly nothing Iowa hasn't seen before. Most of Iowa's shots have been open. They're simply missing. It's more than likely Iowa heats up big time in the second half and rolls to an easy win. Do that and nobody will remember this ugly first half.

BTW: Always a good idea to play NCAA games in a hockey arena. Keegan and JBo have gone down for the first times all season, and Keegan nearly turned an ankle. But at least Joe T was staying on his feet.
