I get it that you don't like Iowa or Fran but I always find it funny when opposing fans come here to rip on Iowa in bball or football and yet their team hasn't been that great of late. I mean not like Illinois hasn't made the sweet 16 in 12 years or missed the tourney 4 years in a row...

In context of Fran and his record most logical fans of big 10 understand he inherited a mess and first 3 years record wasn't that great but has improved and been at or above .500 in league play last 5 years and bringing in quality players of late. No one claiming Fran is the next Coach K but again forgive us Iowa fans if we are happy with how Fran brought the program back to respectability and making the tourney considering how our last 2 coaches did especially his predecessor. As for what a troll is still don't think you grasp or understand the concept but if you don't know what it is by now don't know what to tell you chief.

I want to see Iowa competing for B1G championships and being among the top teams in the conference almost every year. Fran has Iowa moving in that direction. If that happens, I would expect Iowa to consistently win some games in the dance and make the Sweet 16 or even the Elite 8 at least every few years. I think Iowa is getting very close to that level and has a great chance of making a lot of noise over the next few years.

Iowa is never going to be a team that can reload annually like UK, Duke, or Kansas. Fran is now consistently recruiting top 150 players, who want to come in and work hard, and he has an eye for finding players who are undervalued. That is going to make Iowa very competitive (if it hasn't already). I hope to see several Sweet 16 or better results over the next few years, but why put hard deadlines on goals?

This is what I'll never understand about trolls. They go to others schools boards be it Iowa, ISU, Michigan etc and yet they are annoyed their fans are more optimistic or think highly of their school and yet they find it "their duty" to call them out. As shocking as it maybe to them you go to every schools message board that's how their fans feel or least there are always a few yet they don't like it. If someone wants to have a rational conversation great (though few and far between) but in most cases you have cases like in this thread. To make matters worse maybe one shouldn't throw stones in a glass house when ripping on other teams program when theirs hasn't done anything in last 12 years.

Yup. The college town I'm in at the moment, in Illinois, is/was seriously talking privatization for lack of funds. The states credit rating is at junk status. They owe over 12 Billion in unpaid bills. I THINK the state finally started paying lottery winners again. For awhile they weren't.

Its about matchups and luck. We all know theres going to be some small conference teams that make it that wouldnt even make the tourney if they were in a major conference.

As far as the rest of the big ten. Outside of MSU, not particularly concerned with them. We'll beat them our fair share.

Iowa will be one of the better teams in the conference for the foreseeable future.

Without reading any replies to the OP, the talent is there, but it's been there before.

It takes a perfect storm of peaking at the right time and favorable match ups, sprinkled with a little luck.

If we'd entered the tourney while playing the 2 times we were ranked in the Top 10, there'd be problems for the other team. We've struggled to get past the first round of the B1G tourney, which does us no favors.
