The CC Show....

Saw this on the Twitters this morning.

This is freaking awesome.

Stats on left are from Swopes' MVP season.

Stats on right are Clark's current stats from her rookie year.

No wonder Cheryl's ass is chapped - Caitlin ALREADY as good, if not better, than the best Cheryl ever was.

IMG-1747.jpg
And that is 2 games old - Caitlin's stats have actually improved since then!

18.9 ppg
TRB 5.8
Assists: 8.4

Yeah which had NOTHING to do with improving physicality.

Geno was full of shit and so are you.

And with that, I will no longer engage in this debate with you as you are the metaphorical inchoate inebriate at the end of the bar arguing for the sake of arguing and nothing more.
lolz. Guy must be a sad and lonely little man to push this hot take so far.

That’s great

Swoopes is coming off like a bitter old woman in this fight.

In those first 12 games that you so desperately care about, she averaged 16.3 points, 5.4 reb and 6.6 asts per game. Reaching those numbes over an entire season has only happened once (Candace Parker, 2015)
Don’t you understand, Bro? There just wasn’t enough time to put her on the team.

What I hate about basketball shooting stats is that they never show effective shooting percentage which is all that matters in terms of shooting efficiency. She's more than 10 points higher than Angel Reece.

I honestly don’t know what’s going on in Sheryl’s head. She just can’t seem to get out of her own way. Even her private apology to Caitlin that she weirdly posted online was lame as hell.

“COVID year has me all confused.”

Da fuq? I can see where COVID year might have had her confused about how much eligibility Clark had left. But COVID year didn’t trick her into thinking Clark was in her fifth season. And COVID year didn’t trick her into thinking Clark was 25 years old. And COVID year sure as hell didn’t trick her into thinking Clark takes 40 shots per game.

It is puzzling. I normally don't like to bring race into things, but I think her problems with Caitlin are race-based. She did not appreciate just how good Caitlin is, and she did not anticipate the extreme and unprecedented volume of passionate Clark fans who would take her to task on that. As a result, she has continued to paint herself into a corner, and since the internet is forever and Caitlin's career is just getting going, that paint is not going to dry for her to gracefully exit from this.

It’s a tough for some of the old guard to acknowledge that 98% of current WNBA fans didn’t give a shit about the league until this year. Nobody cares about what Swoopes or Taurusi did. They are nobodies to the general public while Clark (and others to much a lesser extent) are getting lots of love and money.

They’re just angry and bitter, I think.

Okay, but why suck off Angel Reece who is also getting a lot of love and publicity?

Because she's the only challenger to the big stage Clark is enjoying. Like others have said, she's painted herself into a corner, much like Joe's Place, and now they are stuck defending an indefensible position.

I haven’t watched a ton, but I’d bet her great passes that her teammates flub outnumber her truly bad passes.
Yes; there are some they are not ready for, or they miss bunny shots, costing her assists.

There are others that are just poor decisions by her and a few that are bad luck/good defense.

Same issues other players deal with.

Clark starts slowly and dips well below mid-season; finishing well above.

And she had LOTS of turnovers to go with a mediocre shooting percentage during those games.

Shooting percentage is far and away better now.
You folks keep focusing on your 2 or 3 stats you like, and ignore the ones that drag her efficiency down. She's shooting the ball like an MVP now.

Lots of turnovers combined with not-good shooting percentages is why she did not have any advocates to put her on the team.
The numbers point out those weaknesses that you refuse to acknowledge.

And if you look at that stat for her early games, it's not "stellar"... her eFG% is very erratic into mid June.
5 games below .400
One game .150

That is very different over the past 12 games. She's had 1 under .400 in the last 12-13 games.

I wonder how much that would have been different if NIL was allowed when they played. Clark came along at the right time with an insane skillset + NIL which put her everywhere. NIL expanded her following, put eyes on her at Iowa, which followed her to the WNBA. I wonder if people would be following her as much without NIL, but we'll never know.

Obviously UConn's run was insane, and I bet a lot of those players like DT could have benefitted from NIL. If Swoopes or DT had NIL opportunities that Clark, Reese, Juju, etc, then I think they could have built a following that could have brought more fans to the WNBA.

I think this is in part of the NIL like my post above. She had a really solid college career with some great NIL opportunities. This helped build up her following.

Reese fans don't really care about the wins or losses, just her double double streak, which is impressive outside her poor shooting percentage.

Like others have said, she's painted herself into a corner, much like Joe's Place, and now they are stuck defending an indefensible position.

If you ignore the overall numbers, you can make any claims you want.

I have the numbers that support my point(s): Clark's play is night-and-day better over the last 12 games compared to the first 12.

Your hypocrisy knows no bounds Joe, as you only focus on less than 3 stats

Uh, no.

I've posted over a dozen times now Game Efficiency metrics, that take all stats into account.
Her points/assists/rebounds numbers may look good early on, but those are offset by poor TOs and poor shooting.

It's why her team is winning now - her play is 2x better than it was; shooting percentages are way up; assists are up and TOs are about the same (no worse). If you want, plot the Fever's overall record (winning %) against Clark's Game Efficiencies - you'll see a pretty solid correlation there.

You can review those posts, if you'd like. They illustrate an impressive level of adjustment in just half a season - something that takes many other players 2-3 seasons to achieve. And comparing Clark to A'ja Wilson (a seasoned vet) is not a fair comparison; it simply illustrates the level of play in the league today is considerably higher than it was when Swoopes played. I expect Clark will be putting up A'ja-like numbers in future seasons; her rookie numbers are already comparable to Magic Johnson's in the 2nd half of her rookie season.

It is a higher level of play and she’s doing even better.

She's not at League MVP level yet.

It's ok to be objective and acknowledge these things. And realize that she's made adjustments to her game over the course of one season that put her on par w/ other rookie greats. It doesn't make you a bad person to recognize she did not play "great" games early on; it makes you a realist.

If your on that racist Swoopes side, you are a disgrace. If you are just being obstinate, that’s less of an offense.
