The CC Show....

She's not at League MVP level yet.

It's ok to be objective and acknowledge these things. And realize that she's made adjustments to her game over the course of one season that put her on par w/ other rookie greats. It doesn't make you a bad person to recognize she did not play "great" games early on; it makes you a realist.
I don't think that there is any doubt that she is playing better today and the same can be said about her teammates. Caitlin's rep comes from logo 3's, but she is first and foremost a facilitator who, when she is at her best, is lifting everyone around her to a higher level. They've learned how to play together and it shows.

Too bad that Clark wasn't playing for MVP honors in 2002

Cuz 2024 is a bit higher level of play...

But her numbers are light years ahead of other rookies.

Didn’t read this thread but I saw another thread about how pathetic Joe is being. I just wanted to pop in and tel Joe to shut up.

Shut up Joe.
Careful, he will come after you for 12 days and tell you it’s almost a month.
Sorry, had to edit the post. I was pointing out his hypocrisy, bad links, misquotes, made up commentary, lies and questions he doesn’t answer and it told me
‘You don’t have enough time or space for all the things he has been wrong about in this thread. OP(Joe) needs to stick to vacc, bpas and other things he has a clue about because he doesn’t in this thread’

Holy smokes is Joe making his own custom charts for his argument here??
Here's one for ya....

WNBA Rookie numbers

Does it look to you like CC started out "gangbusters" as the greatest WNBA rookie in the history of the game here?
What do you see?

nr6q2VW.jpeg

If the names were blacked out, which Rookie(s) would you expect would/could have gotten Olympic invites (if they were eligible) by the 10th-15th game?

I can see 2 that probably might have gotten picked. Probably aren't the one you wanted, though.

(Note that CC just might finish out the season with both the greatest overall improvement, and highest metrics of any of them)

So we’re comparing her to the greatest of the greats? Looks pretty fooking good to me.

So we’re comparing her to the greatest of the greats?

No; we're comparing her to the past 6 Rookies Of The Year.

Her first half of the season makes her look like an "average" Rookie of the Year candidate. Not the Greatest Player Ever (that everyone wishes to claim here).

Her play NOW makes her look like one of the better (maybe best) rookies, ever. That wasn't the case thru the first half of the season. A'ja Wilson posted the most consistent numbers as a rookie.

I thought this was "bad".

Now it's "ok"?
Very solid effort. Easy to see how someone like you could be confused on the difference between editing someone else’s post and changing the context and meaning and editing my own post for brevity as I didn’t have enough time or space to post all of your failures in this thread.

To simplify for you
One is an honest edit. - CID

The other is dishonest, unethical and really kind of sad that you need to resort to it. —- Lying Joe

Which ones went to UConn?
Or have been in the pit with coach two sh*ts?

Now post the schedules for the first 11 games for those other six rookies. How many of them had to play 11 games in 20 days, including eight against the top five teams in the league? How many of them had to make three separate trips to the east coast and a west coast swing that saw them play in Seattle, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas all in a four-day span?

Meanwhile, tonight another medium/sub-par performance for Clark (compared to her other games)

Half her team's TOs, sub .400 shooting night.
Good numbers; not great numbers. And those TOs really killed them.

Need to figure out the Lynx, as they're a possible matchup for them in the playoffs.

Did you watch because Caitlyn's performance was the least of their problems.

Didn’t hear anything from you about the triple double the other night. Strange.

And Clark went 25/8/8 tonight.

7 out of the 14 team TOs is not a problem?

And getting her shot blocked (probably fouled) and just laying on the ground until the other team scored 2pts playing 5 on 4 is "not a problem" either? I get it - she was fouled; but you can't just pout laying on your back while your teammates are trying to stop a fast-break.

Openly rooting against her now.

Not at all.
I've posted data that shows she's among the best rookies of the past 7 years.

If the Fever want to compete w/ the top 4 teams in the league, they need her to step up and take better care of the ball.
And not 'shut down' when she gets fouled and doesn't get the call. That costs her team a lot of points on the other end.

Last year people had barely heard of the Fever, and they had the worst record in the NBA.
This year, because they added Caitlin Clark, they are in the playoffs, setting attendance and league records, and have NBA players sitting court side and praising Clark publicly.
So, no, 7 turnovers are not a problem.

So, winning games is not the goal here.

You know expectations have gone through the roof when a 25/8/8 stat line is considered ‘sub-par’.

I referred to it as "medium/sub-par".
Because it's probably about an average performance for her, but it's well below what she's done the last 6 or so games.

Maybe you missed the posts I've made which illustrate she's playing like one of the best rookies of at least the past 7 yrs. You can certainly go dig up the data for the 7 yrs prior to that, and we can compare her to top rookies over the past 15 yrs.

Only rookie I'd say compares well with her that I see is A'ja (maybe Boston, but Boston tailed off late in the season, while CC's performances are generally improving overall)

Did you skip the playoffs part?
You skipped the TOs part.

If CC goes 100% even after getting fouled, not getting the call, and turning the ball over, that swings the game by quite a few points. Might even mean a win.

That's a bad habit for her, and doesn't sit well w/ league officials, who are not going to coddle her.

Not seeing how any of that is relevant to their WNBA performances here
Let's just add that to your litany of "excuses".
It’s called ‘sarcasm’
Make a graph for it. I can give you almost a month to put it together. Have it done in 12 days. That’s almost a month

What percentage of her TO's, on average, are due to another player?

18-58

18-17

This team is much improved in spite of all those costly turnovers. If she grabs two 9.1 point steals in that game they win going away.

Where do you watch today's game? I have league pass, but I think it's on ESPN3. I'm a Direct TV subscriber with a temporary Youtube TV account. I can find the game on Youtube TV sports list, but when I click on the game it wants me to subscribe to WBNA league pass through them which I don't need. If it's on ESPN3 why would they need me to have a League Pass? Anyway how can I watch the game? The ESPN app?

KCWI channel 9 on Mediacom. I believe it's a local ABC affiliate.

This is one of those game where you just have to hunt around, I think. Here in the DSM area on YouTube tv it is on the CW. Probably also on W app too, on your Roku or whatever you use.

You’ll probably have to sign in to your League Pass account to watch it. ESPN3 is a separate subscription service that is not available through YTTV or cable providers, which is why YTTV is asking you to sign up for League Pass.
