*****The Official Iowa vs Illinois State Game Thread*****

Yes, the OL isn’t good, but the offense is still the same. No pre-snap motion, no imagination, no variance in formations, nothing. Just the same boring, garbage offense.

There isn’t a damn thing that’s going to be different this year.

We’ll see how the season plays out, but I just don’t see where there is going to be much improvement in production. At this point, it’s probably time for a reset for Iowa football. Kirk needs to retire.
As we’ve all heard “it all starts up front”. The ability to run the ball opens everything else up. Even a vanilla offense can score points if the damn line could block and a sophisticated offense couldn’t do shit if the line can’t do its job.

That ball looked so bad coming out of Cade's hand on what should've been an easy 10 yd throw.

It's like he never turned the ball through the throw and just pushed it put.

Also, glad to see our running game hasn't change. Just robotically run to assigned spots and hope there's a lane.

If not, "f*** it, we can always hope our defense scores" - Kirk Ferentz, probably

It's really amazing. You could take out that top 50% of quarterbacks in college football and then throw a dart and be 90% sure you'll end up with a better quarterback.

Would there really be much improvement if Sullivan got in the game?

Cade looks terrible, don’t get me wrong, but I no longer have faith the backup quarterback is going to be much of an improvement. The system is just trash and ruins every quarterback who falls prey to it.

At the very least, Kirk will be able to say, “See, my son is not the problem.”
We'll never know.

After ONE Quarter:

Iowa Offense:

1 first down
1-5 (20%) on 3rd down
34 total yards

Cade: 3-8 (38%) for 17 yards

Moulton & Williams: 8 rushes for 17 yards
obviously it would be too much to expect to keep pace with last year's historic offense

GET RID OF FERENTZ!!!!!
I felt Kirk should have stepped down after the Holiday Bowl win against USC.

I still feel that way today.

Kirk won’t change, and the game on the offensive side of the ball has completely passed him by.

This offense is still Kirk ball. I don’t see anything different that suggests Tim Lester has any imprint on it whatsoever.

Flipped over to Georgia-Clemson and saw more imagination in 2 plays that we likely have in our whole playbook

by end of this game some of us might miss brian.
Regardless what happens after him, he had plenty of opportunity to stand up to his head coach and dad and say this shit doesn't work and we need to do it differently. Regardless wether he engineered it he still conducted it, and that makes him unfit.

Remember. We got a different version of Brian out of an analyst role after a half ass coaching search. No one in the galaxy not named ferentz was excited about the Lester hire.
