I'm fine with sitting them for a Qtr. I understand the intent, because they're trying to remove the incentive for players to lay big hits leading with their helmet. We've seen that a 15 yd penalty doesn't do sh** to really deter certain things that officials/rules committees want to get out of the game or change.
Their problem is they went overkill by ejecting a player for "targeting", and potentially punishing them for their next game as well. We're far enough into this that we can take away the automatic ejection part, but again I would still make the punishment more severe than just the equivalent of a personal foul (because of the fact that it is still about enforcing player safety for all involved).
Remember when getting 21 points in a game, let alone a half, we would be jumping for joy! We’ve come a long way already.
